Surprisingly large room in downtown Manhattan The executive king room size was a pleasant surprise for a manhattan hotel while considering the price and being so close to Times Square. The staff from the bell men who provided great service and tips on getting around as well as Israel at front desk started the trip off perfectly, with options for early check-in, recommendations around the area and great friendly service! I’d definitely recommend The Muse

Bad experience after being bitten by bed bugs I stayed at the Muse New York Hotel from September 2–4, 2025, for a business trip and checked out shortly before noon on September 5 to catch my flight home. Shortly after boarding, I discovered multiple painful and itchy bed bug bites on my neck and shoulders, clearly acquired during my stay at the Muse Hotel. To prevent infestation at home, I spent the entire weekend repeatedly washing and drying clothing on high heat, discarding leather shoes, handbags, and sneakers that could not be treated, and sealing my suitcase and laptop bag after spraying them. These efforts caused significant physical discomfort, mental stress, and financial loss, including the destruction of personal belongings. I was unable to sleep for several nights out of fear that I had brought bed bugs home. I documented the bites with photos (attached) and reported the incident to my travel agent on September 6, followed by a call on September 8 and additional photos. Although I was told the Muse Hotel would respond by September 10, I never received a response. I escalated by calling the general manager on September 23, emailing the operations manager on September 24, and calling again on September 26. No one contacted me, and when I finally reached the manager on duty, he denied responsibility, claiming I should have reported it before checkout. However, I only discovered the bites after leaving the hotel, and it is well established that symptoms may take days to appear. This experience has caused serious mental, physical, and emotional distress, along with substantial financial and time costs. Beyond all of these, I was met with complete indifference—hotel management not only refused to acknowledge the problem but also failed to extend even basic empathy. This goes far beyond poor service and reflected a troubling disregard for my well-being. I will not be staying here ever again.

Great personnel, poor quality room Every staff member at the Muse was A-quality: professional, answered all questions, friendly, welcoming. The location in the middle of the theater district was convenient for shows. But the hotel room was a disappointment. Not realizing they had ended their Kimpton relationship a few years ago, I expected higher quality there. Instead, it was 25-year-old everything, it seemed. The mattress and pillows were soft. The linens were tired. The extra blanket was delivered - but cotton, with many fibers pulled. The chair upsholstery was showing. some wear. It was good to have double shades on the windows, but the noise outside was surprisingly loud on the 9th floor, and it came from construction during the day and revelers in the evening and into the night. I would not recommend this hotel.

Ideal for shows and good food Ideally situated near Times Square, this recently renovated, quarter century hotel was perfect for seeing shows, dining well, and celebrating our wedding anniversary. Rooms were the perfect size. Amenities were also nice. Fromthe Desk to the bar and cleaning staff were uniformly friendly, efficient and helpful. When we made a request, it was fulfilled immediately. We recommend it highly!

Great service, underwhelming hotel I stayed in two different rooms- an executive room on the 6th floor and a suite on the 12th floor. Starting with the positives- By far the service. The front desk staff was excellent. Very friendly and accommodating. Regarding room #1 on the 6th floor. Comfortable bed and room overall but it faced the street and was incredibly noisy (and I sleep with earplugs). The hotel is not responsible for outside noise but it is responsible for soundproofing which clearly wasn't done. The other problem in the room was the air conditioning. The noise from the unit was so incredibly loud... it was the kind of unit you would find in a 2-star property, not at a Kimpton hotel. The other problem was the lighting. The rooms are dark and the windows are set quite high so you don't really have any natural light at all. The room is clean but the decor is very basic... not the highest quality. In my room the refrigerator froze whatever I put into it and the outlets did not work next to my bed. The bathroom was nice but the shower was disappointing. The water pressure was quite weak and the amount of shower gel given was miniscule. In the suite, there far was less outdoor noise but the room again had exactly the same shortfalls. Dark, same issue with the shower and decor. Very basic and uninspiring. The location is great if you are working in Midtown but the proximity to Times Square for me was a downside. Too many people and impossible to access via taxi/Uber because of multiple street closures during my stay. Overall, I would say this was an old property that was given a quick aesthetic makeover with very little investment (clunky doors with cheap handles, old elevators, old AC units...). Really it felt like a hotel from the 1970s with new IKEA furnishings. I would have expected more.
