Beware hidden daily $46 facility fees New Yorker hotel provided a very small room with a disappointing view in stark contrast to the description provided online when booking. No water provided in the room. No fridge, kettle, tea or coffee, these are available for a high daily charge as extras. On check in they asked for a 50 dollar per day security deposit which we were told would be returned on checkout. On checkout we were assured all was fine and deposit would be refunded. After leaving they charged the card a 40 dollar a day plus taxes (45.9USD per day total) facilities fee which seems to be in violation of New Yorks unfair trade practices law. I have asked the hotel for a refund and they have stopped responding. I will be taking further action - save yourself the hassle and find a hotel which does not charge hidden excesssive facilities fees after room booking has been paid.

Expected better After reading the reviews I was apprehensive about staying at the New Yorker hence I opted for the upgrade. Worst mistake! Paid extra for absolutely nothing- a tiny window with a supposed view of the Empire state, which wasnt what i wanted! I wanted a decent bathroom with better fittings! DONT TAKE THE UPGRADE ITS A PLOY! There were lots of hidden cost that were charged and still haven't received a response from the hotel. The bathroom was minute, everything was old. Yes, Penn station was close by and the diner was good, however save your money you will find better modern hotels for the same price.

The worst hotel in Manhattan Worst Hotel Experience Ever We stayed at this hotel from August 5th to August 12th, 2025, in room 2141, and it was by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. First, imagine trying to enjoy a peaceful morning sleep only to be woken up by bizarre, loud noises from the sewage system. This wasn’t just normal plumbing noise — it sounded like a person screaming after a nightmare. The bathroom was another disappointment. There’s no ventilation or air conditioning, so after using it, the smell lingers unpleasantly for the next person. The shower was equally frustrating — the hot water faucet leaked, and the water temperature kept changing on its own, making it impossible to enjoy a proper shower. The room was advertised as having two queen-size beds, but in reality, the beds were smaller than that. The only positive thing I can say about this hotel is its location, and that’s the only reason I gave it one star. Everything else was unacceptable, and I would never stay here again.

Hugely disappointing experience Have just completed a three day stay here. To say I was underwhelmed is an overstatement. Due to return to NY on Saturday but have booked my next three days at Double Tree to avoid a repeat of the issues (too many to list here but includes tired decor, loud drilling directly outside my 7th floor room & a defunct wash basin which I requested be repaired not once but TWICE to no avail) so suffice to say I won't be back there again. Worst still was an agressive member of staff (Louis) charged with 'protecting' his lifts who was aggressive , rude and bristling with attitude- NOT what I'd call even close to being 'customer service' . Was asked on check-out in a routine manner 'how was your stay sir?' to which I replied disappointing. She simply smiled and said 'have a great day'. #dontgiveadamn
