From its private beach access to its oceanfront pools, the resort honors Pawleys Island’s legacy as a haven for barefoot luxury. Nearby, historic Georgetown’s antebellum allure and local seafood shacks beckon, ensuring that adventure and relaxation walk hand in hand.

Pawleys Island, SC: Where Southern Charm Meets Timeless Coastal Serenity

Nestled along South Carolina’s Lowcountry coast, Pawleys Island is a tranquil escape steeped in history and natural beauty. Established in the early 18th century as a seasonal retreat for rice planters, this slender barrier island has retained its unhurried charm, with weathered cedar-shake cottages and moss-draped oaks standing as quiet witnesses to centuries of coastal life. Unlike the bustling resorts of nearby Myrtle Beach, Pawleys Island moves to the rhythm of the tides, offering sweeping marsh vistas, pristine beaches, and a sense of seclusion that feels worlds away. Its iconic rope hammocks—handcrafted here since the 1930s—symbolize the island’s dedication to slow living and artisanal tradition.

Beyond its postcard-perfect shores, Pawleys Island is a gateway to the rich ecological and cultural tapestry of the Lowcountry. The saltwater creeks and estuaries teem with herons, dolphins, and oysters, while the historic Georgetown district—just a short drive away—boasts antebellum architecture and Gullah-Geechee heritage. Whether kayaking through the marsh at dawn, casting a line off the historic Pawleys Island Pier, or simply rocking on a porch swing to the sound of rustling palmetto fronds, visitors here become part of a legacy that values simplicity, authenticity, and the enduring magic of the Carolina coast.

Very disappointing. One of our favorite places has gone downhill. Let me start by saying this has been a family favorite place to stay for us for almost 30 years. We visited during very popular beach destination time - Easter week 2025. 2 of the main pools - Bridgewater and Summerhouse including beach access via these pool areas were closed and in major disrepair. We were blatantly lied to about the reopening of these pools by 3 different staff members. There was a mix up during checking in. The restaurant Coastal Dish was closed for all meals but breakfast…. And breakfast was a hit or miss. One of the elevators in the Bridgewater building was broken. We were contacted multiple times asking us to come to a “non timeshare” sales pitch …. After declining the first time. Very sad … we loved this place but will be making memories elsewhere in the future

Not worth the money Recently some of my Relatives stayed at the Litchfield Inn while they were in town. They had stayed here before and chose it again because of its ocean front location. They were very disappointed. They could not get into the room until around 5 PM and there were several issues that needed correcting immediately one was there was no telephone for making any. Kind of local calls. When they called they said they would put one in but they were out of them.. There was another issue with the shower which dribbled rather than poured. You could tell that the room needed loving care but was not getting it. No one came in to clean the room or provide clean towels and when asked about this front said guests had to request cleaning services. Other than a comfortable bed and a nice view, They did not think that this inn was worth the almost $300 per night that it charged. These tower rames are owned by individuals and it is obvious that the hotel is not making them Keep it up to standards. Also, They have totally revamped the restaurant. There is no outside dining anymore.. .

After being loyal guests for 15 + yrs, wont be back.... We were in town for a funeral and decided to spend the nite instead of driving back home. We have visited the Inn for 15 + yrs and kids learned to swim in the pools/and have spent countless hours having fam time on the beach, many fond memories for sure. Even in winter they wanted a 2 nite min, so that required me to talk directly with the folks at the property so we could work it out.. They originally suggested I use Expedia/Hotels .com to book it, which is odd since most prop want you to book directly to avoid paying those ECompanies fees. You really DO want to talk with the property directly as the units are individually owned so unit conditions vary greatly, plus they will guide you to the best locations for your stay on the property (which also varies greatly). So grabbed at $92.50 rate for ocean front dunes unit (206) which was ideal.. checked in Joe, went to our room and passed out with door open and lovely sound of the surf. Now we had received our confirmation which mentioned a "Damage Waiver Fee" , note the use of waiver..hold on to that. I was sure it was like a rental car fee, and would be WAIVED with no damage once checking out. So, we had wonderful night, woke up to perfect sunrise, even got a walk in on the beach before comped bfast. Upon check out was handed a bill for over $240 for a 92.50$ room, I was stunned. Yes, I expect the resort fees, and various taxes... but our room was 40% of the total bill. I asked for an explanation of the various fees...The damage waiver fee is not waiver, it is mandatory, nonrefundable at $39.50/and a unit cleaning fee (based on size of unit) was charged for$69.50 which at no time was disclosed either verbally or in writing. I considered putting the charges in dispute with AE, but didn't out of loyalty to the Inn and asked for the front office mgr (who I had booked my res with ..take note of that), to call me asap. 4 Days later I did rec a call, and after much back and forth the dmg waiver fee was refunded, and I was told that the fees are clearly stated on the confirmation (dmg WAIVER fee yes, no mention of cleaning) and that if not (?) they are supposed to be disclosed to you orally upon check in..which they weren't and she promptly threw the front desk staff under the bus. This is my second review posted and after posting a harsh review on Google, got a lame response that the fees they charged aren't different from other properties in Pawley's/Myrtle Beach. So, you have it, I write this review with a sad heart, as it's like saying goodbye to an old friend. Foretold is forewarned.

Great view from Dunes room with beach access and very nice people. We were a little reluctant to book this place because of some of the bad reviews we read, but we are so glad we went ahead with it. We had a Dunes room with a balcony that looked right out on the beach. The sunrises were amazing. The room was the perfect size with a large bed, sitting area, and small kitchenette. There was plenty of room to sit while you changed, and a table and chair for using your computer. The whole room, including the bathroom, was very clean and comfortable. Our reservation included breakfast at the on-site restaurant. The breakfasts were really tasty, hot, and satisfying. It is normally a buffet, but during the off season they make your breakfasts to order due to so few guests. We had dinner there a couple of times and it was excellent both times. The grilled chicken was particularly good. All of the servers were so friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, I only remember the name of one of the staff - Michelle. But everyone that we came into contact with was great. Parking was ample and we felt very safe here. We had no surprises with the bill or any other issues. We walked on the beach all 3 mornings we were there and there were perhaps just a handful of people on the beach morning. Winter is a great time to go if you want to avoid the crowds and don't mind the cold. We got lucky with the weather in that the skies were very clear most of the time we were there. We will definitely be back.

Not all rooms/villas are equal - Stay Away Beware of reserving a room here! I booked an oceant front 2 bedroom villa for Christmas. Description said fully stocked gourmet kitchen. The unit I was given was not (200) even close. The kitchen was so bad I had to go buy pots to use and it not even close to the unit displayed on line. Plus the kitchen was dirty - I had to wash everything before using. Management response was all units are different. Basically ‘we’ don’t care. Stay away
