Not luxurious, but perfect for us I want to comment on some other reviews and give my viewpoint. I stayed in Tower room 530 for 4 nights, in May. It is true that there are lots of fees. All fees are listed on the website. Most places I looked at had lots of resort fees, etc., tacked on, so I was not surprised at the final price, as I did lots of careful looking and asked questions before I booked. I didn't compare prices- I wanted the oceanfront balcony, which was wonderful and mostly in the shade all day. Things I loved- coffee on my oceanfront balcony in the morning, the nice bed, the fridge and microwave, the GREAT A/C which let me keep the room cold, the great ceiling fan, and the huge beach with a big swath that was compressed soft sand and very easy to walk on. The two dead jellyfish I saw during my stay were interesting to look at. The little shells that burrowed into the sand were so cute! The beach is endless and it was not overly crowded. In the mornings, it was almost empty. We liked the good singer they had playing on the deck one evening. He was by one pool, and lots of people were there listening to him, and we were at the other pool, where the volume was a bit less. There were several outdoor dining tables on the patio next to the pool bar/restaurant, with ocean view, and the service was good. And the food was good. No one mentioned anything about timeshares. I mostly used the stairs, but the elevator in the tower seemed fine to me. I put the do not disturb sign on my door and when I needed more TP, I went to the front desk and got it right away. The buffet breakfast was steaming hot- served in covered heated dishes. I loved having scrambled eggs, potatoes, grits and cheese for breakfast. They also had sausage and bacon, breads you could toast, fresh fruit, including bananas, muffins, donuts, PB and jelly and honey and juice and coffee (ours was served in a pot at our table). The servers were fine and very friendly. Things I noticed but didn't mind- The shower spray was not SUPER strong, the stairwell needed sweeping, TP was thin, floors were a tiny bit sandy, but this is usually the case with oceanfront rooms. I wore socks in the room if it bothered me, or put towels on the floors as bathmats. We brought our own beverages in water bottles, to drink while poolside. They didn't care. We moved the pool chairs away from where they had been placed so we'd be in the shade, and that was fine. I was happy to see some staff members enjoying drinks poolside when they were done for the day- they were all so nice. If you are wanting a fancy place with turndown service and a chocolate on the pillow, this in not the place for you. For me, it was a relaxing place with friendly helpers.

Pawleys Island, SC: Where Southern Charm Meets Timeless Coastal Serenity

Nestled along South Carolina’s Lowcountry coast, Pawleys Island is a tranquil escape steeped in history and natural beauty. Established in the early 18th century as a seasonal retreat for rice planters, this slender barrier island has retained its unhurried charm, with weathered cedar-shake cottages and moss-draped oaks standing as quiet witnesses to centuries of coastal life. Unlike the bustling resorts of nearby Myrtle Beach, Pawleys Island moves to the rhythm of the tides, offering sweeping marsh vistas, pristine beaches, and a sense of seclusion that feels worlds away. Its iconic rope hammocks—handcrafted here since the 1930s—symbolize the island’s dedication to slow living and artisanal tradition.

Beyond its postcard-perfect shores, Pawleys Island is a gateway to the rich ecological and cultural tapestry of the Lowcountry. The saltwater creeks and estuaries teem with herons, dolphins, and oysters, while the historic Georgetown district—just a short drive away—boasts antebellum architecture and Gullah-Geechee heritage. Whether kayaking through the marsh at dawn, casting a line off the historic Pawleys Island Pier, or simply rocking on a porch swing to the sound of rustling palmetto fronds, visitors here become part of a legacy that values simplicity, authenticity, and the enduring magic of the Carolina coast.

Room not ready at check in time Just drove 8 hours to come here. Long line to check in and @ 5:15 pm, after waiting in line for an hour, were told by reception that our room was not ready. Staff not sympathetic to issue at all. No option for alternative room or other solution provided.

Get your descriptions of rooms figured out and rates clarified I went through AAA auto to find a room near Brookhaven Gardens SC. This motel was very convenient and right on the beach. I signed up for a room that said it had an ocean view, at what I thought was a very reasonable rate, I think it was $140 per night AAA rate. I thought it was an off-season rate as school was not out yet. Good deal. I specified I could not climb stairs. When I got to the inn front desk I was shown on a map the room location, which was overlooking the pool and it was noisy with corn hole games, with an ocean view if you would look real hard out the corner of the window, and with stairs up to it. (I think I would call it "ocean ajacent"). I guess it was opposites day. There is an elevator on the property, but it is at the opposite end of the property, too far for me with bad knees. So the nice gentleman at the desk took the time to find me another room that would be more accommodating. Great, 5th floor in "the tower" with an ocean view and across from the elevator for just $80 more total. OK, too tired to argue the cost difference and incorrect description on their listing. The room had a great view, I loved sitting out on the porch watching the ocean and hearing the waves. It was a clean room, tile floor, furniture a little worn, nothing fancy, but fine. I enjoyed it very much. When I looked a my credit card bill today the bill was $428 total for two nights and yes I know tax is added, but still, ouch. Be aware.

Avoid Oceanfront Litchfield Inn on Pawleys Island SC Avoid this hotel. While a nice beachfront location, hundreds of dollars in ridiculous fees could cost you almost double the advertised room price. This includes a $135 “cleaning” fee and a $35 “damage” fee. Room night was $250 on a peak holiday weekend. So ridiculous fees were 70% of room cost. Food service is poor. “Upscale” Tide to Table restaurant falls short. Buffet breakfast is mundane and cold. Some great employees, but quality and cost do not equal value.

AC unit terrible. Told front desk on second day. Failed to enter work order. I meet someone from hotel staff at room This review is average only because our AC unit in room 229 was terrible. It worked hard the first evening to get to 74F. At 12:00 we woke to a temp of 84F. The unit located under cabinet in bathroom was so hot I feared a fire. So turned off as much as I could and we slept with patio door full open. Luckily it was 64F out. But even when AC should have been off it blew air which was often warn. How with daytime temps of 74 does the room reach 82F with all controls off to AC?
