The Reef Coco beach was fantastic. They have everything you need from bicycles to ride around, daily activities like water volleyball, beach yoga, free drinks at the swim up bar, cabanas at the pool, 3 hot tubs, 4 restaurants. The Samurai Japanese steakhouse was awesome, it is the only restaurant that isn’t included in the all inclusive, but it’s only $10 per person for sushi, hibachi and dessert

Playa del Carmen, Mexico: Trendy Beach Area and Diving Destination

Just across the sea from the island of Cozumel, Playa del Carmen has been called "the hippest city in all of the Yucatán Peninsula" by Lonely Planet. The laid-back beach bars and cafés have a way of converting vacationers into expats, but Playa's most compelling draw might be its cenotes—cavernous sinkholes filled with turquoise pools. The water in the cenotes is crystal clear, particularly at the lily-pad-dotted Xlacah cenote, where you can snorkel among schools of colorful fish.

To the south, you'll find preserved ruins of pre-Columbian cities. Tulum's crumbling temples are situated above a dramatic ocean bluff, and Coba's enormous pyramid rises between two lagoons. For a fun day trip, hop aboard the ferry to Cozumel, which docks at the pier east of Calle 1. There are about a dozen dive shops on Cozumel, and they offer trips offshore to the reefs that Jacques Cousteau declared some of the world's most beautiful.

Your next visit to Playa Del Carmen should include the Reef Coco Beach. Such an amazing stay… again. This is why we continue to come back to the Reef properties. We definitely feel like VIP guests when we stay here. Make sure and book the all-inclusive package to take advantage of everything the Reef has to offer. Start with arriving and getting your mimosa or your specialty coffee made by Ramon at the lobby bar, settle into one of the beautiful rooms (it’s not a mega resort, so most rooms have beach facing patios), enjoy poolside activities with Boris, who is genuinely so fun, book a Teppanyaki dinner at Samurai or try the Italian restaurant next door… both are excellent, and finish with an evening show at the lobby or the pool. Every restaurant we ate at was fantastic, even the daily buffet in the beachside restaurant. The Reef Coco Beach is a great option for families or couples, especially with the new addition of the elevated Frigata beach club attached to the resort. We had the option of hanging out at the main pool or heading next door to the new Frigata day club, which we chose for day two of our stay and absolutely loved. There’s definitely an exclusive feel to the beach club and you have your choice of pools side, patio or beach side seating. The food, location and service were such an added benefit, and really stood out as our new place to hang out when we visit.

Best Vacation Ever Best trip ever…..AGAIN The Reef, once again, delivered an amazing vacation. We stay here once or twice a year and always come back. Coco Beach was amazing. I love waking up to our ocean view. BORIS was amazing. He always remembers us and is always very kind and attentive. We had lunch for the first time at the buffet and we have been missing out. OMG. The food is AMAZING. They had a pasta bar and fresh chorizo. Every morning I get a custom made omelette and fresh pastries. The food is always fresh and very authentic. Ramon at the lobby bar, Geraldo at the pool bar and Milton at the pool bar always remembers us and our drinks. They are always very nice. Watch out for Geraldo and his shots. We love and hate them. _ We are at all the restaurants and love everything. Especially the fried rice and food at the Samurai and Italian restaurant. We got a special lobster and steak dinner one night which was AMAZING. And OMG. FRAGATA is amazing. We spent lots of time at the new beach club Fragata. What a great addition to the Reef. It was nice to get away from the kids for a minute and enjoy adult time. The food and service was amazing. Fragata is a great addition to the reef. We can’t wait to go back. All of the rooms at the reef have an awesome view and very nice. We can’t wait to came back. Love you all.

Most amazing Resort in Mexico Our expectations were surpassed by far !! From the arrival to departure we were nothing but super pleased with every aspect of the service, food, drinks and entertainment. Having read hundreds of reviews I was prepared for the hard pillows and brought my own. The complaints about the hard mattresses were unfounded for my bed. It was very comfortable. Since my friends arrived later in the day, it seemed that I was given extra attention because I was alone. A nice welcome drink, swift check in and I got the room I had requested via email in advance. I have been to countless resorts and The Reef was by FAR the friendliest. No one was pushy to upgrade and not once were we approached for time shares. When my friends arrived we were debating whether to upgrade to Premium but since we stayed 2 full weeks it would have been $350 and we didn't really see much of an advantage. The cocktails were phenomenal and the Buffet had a great selection. Could have been a little hotter, but it wasn't a real issue. All wait staff was so friendly and accommodating. We did not try the Mexican Restaurant since there were plenty of Mexican dishes on the Buffet. The Italien restaurant was a little disappointing. I ordered the Tuna Medium and it was so well done that I could not eat it. We did pay for the Japanese Restaurant ($20 pp) and it did not disappoint. Excellent food and a fun experience. The Lobby is pretty and we used the chairs and table to play games some nights. The snack bar is great but perhaps could use a few additional choices such as a salad. The Beach Bar was amazing with THE best waiter EVER !!!! The pool is great and the swim up bar so nice, never a long wait for drinks. These guys work so hard but remain so friendly. Also as non smokers we appreciated the segregated area for the smokers so we didn't have to suffer. Also no sales people anywhere...they had some lovely stands by the pool in the evenings selling nice souvenirs. We had a rental car for our stay and were free to drive to our excursions, and just pay the entrance fee and parking in some cases. We did go to 5th Av since it is so close and it was fun to see, but also very hot. We paid with Pesos but US Dollars are also accepted at most places and also cards. I suppose I must mention the incredible amount of Seagrass that the ocean was afflicted with. The resort has installed netting to keep it from the beach area but the water was quite nasty since the uncontrolled seaweed was right next to and behind the clear area. This natural phenomenon of course can NOT reflect negatively onto the resort. Workers did what they could but on some days barely were able to make a dent in the huge piles of smelly mountains. We just learned to live with it just like everyone else. The Resort is small and we loved that. Very easy to navigate and arrived quickly to where you need to go. The views are absolutely amazing from everywhere but especially from upstairs where the individual restaurants are. No room has a bad view and the ocean is always visible. Rooms are simple but clean, pretty and comfortable. Instead of using the wash line provided in the shower I brought clothe pins and used the luggage rack as a drying rack on the balcony. Worked perfectly! Walls are thin and most rooms have a connecting door option and the room next door had the AC up so high that I never once in 2 weeks had to use my own AC and it was so cool. BOGO..haha. I LOVED the filtered water dispensers located everywhere throughout the resort. A carafe is provided in the room and you are never out of water. Best tasting water !! The fridge is filled with soda but we don't drink that so we never used it. It was such a memorable relaxing vacation where everything was just perfect. The Reef Coco Beach is highly recommended.
