The Shoreham Hotel, NYC - Steps from Central Park with Modern Comfort

Never ever again Overall awful experience. From moment of arrival 2 staff at reception having conversation amongst themselves, seen me and my partner arrive and continued on talking. No greeting, smile or are you here to check in. When finally finished their conversation staff was very unwelcoming and unbothered about new guests arriving. Went up to the hotel room to be met with an extremely small room with multiple splatters of blood on the curtains, dusty window sill, dust on all surfaces including bed frame and desks/bedside table. Bathroom space was very hard to move around in due to the size. Light on ceiling hanging off the ceiling? Upon checking out, same thing again. Unbothered, unwelcoming, rude vibe all around by staff. To top it off, the hotel is joint to a Mediterranean restaurant so you can imagine the smell upon arriving downstairs off the elevator. Won’t be back.

Not a 4 star !!!! No idea how this hotel is listed as 4 star !! We got a last minute deal to go to New York and saw the deal advertised as a "4 star hotel" immediately booked it. Few online reviews we saw were not great but couldn't cancel or make a change. We arrived and it has zero kerb appeal. The hotel looks like a run down office block from the outside. Checked in and got a room on 7th floor and thought we might have a view. We did but only just through the very dirty windows. The clearly hadn't been cleaned outside in months and inside in just as long. The room was small and the cupboards and drawers looked like they were purchased from a goodwill store. The bed was big and comfortable so thats the only saving grace. The bathroom was styled on prison with a steel sink and ripped shower curtain. The biggest issue for me was the black mould on the roof over the bath/shower. The attitude of the staff was severely lacking. When we arrived there was complimentary water at the check in desk. Which was a nice thing. Next day it disappeared. When I asked where it had gone the reply was...."don't know"....when i asked if there was anywhere to get water, I was told I could " buy some from the shop opposite check in desk". Checked with the guy there and refused to pay the $9 for a 1.5 litre bottle of water. The so called "gym" was a bit of an exaggeration. It was 5 old broken down machines, 1 bench and a few dumbells, no water in here either and no cleaning materials for anything. Unfortunately at one point my wife dropped an earring on the floor. Whilst looking for it we pulled back the sheet to find that for some reason we had no carpet under the bed. Just cold hard concrete. Which would explain why we found the room cold at times. One of the other issues was the water temperature. When we got there on Thursday there was only 2 temperatures, lukewarm and skin melting hot. This was rectified by the Friday as we only got lukewarm water at best. This hotel has the bare faced cheek to charge "resort fees" or $45 a day....genuinely trying to figure out what for. We were asked to pay a $100 security/damage deposit which I'm sure might be returned at some point because I'm already back in the UK with no way to spend to USD. If a payment is taken immediately it should be returned immediately too. I'm happy to discuss with Mr Adnan Ali should he wish to reach out to me. The location is the ONLY redeeming quality of this hotel. The only reason I would allocate it even 1 star.

Great value I got a deal - £300 for 3 nights, in midtown Manhattan!! Amazing value. Big room, not the smartest but didn’t matter. TV didn’t work but bed was huge. Probably best hotel shower I have ever t.Definitely go back (if I could get the same deal!).
