We made due for 1 Night Just Okay – Great Staff, But the Rooms Need a Major Update Our recent stay at The Strand in Myrtle Beach was just okay. The biggest positive was definitely the staff. The check-in team was friendly and welcoming, and the housekeeping staff really seemed to take pride in their work. The hotel was overall clean, and the location is fantastic—right on the beach with a super cute outdoor area leading up to the sand. That said, the rooms are seriously dated. The lighting fixtures were rusted, the popcorn ceilings are long overdue for removal, and the furniture, kitchens, and overall room decor feel stuck in the past. The bones of this property have a lot of potential, but it’s clear that ownership needs to invest in major renovations—ideally on a room-by-room or floor-by-floor basis. The breakfast was okay, but the dining area felt just as outdated as the rooms. With a little vision, they could really make something special out of that space. In short: amazing staff and ideal location, but the outdated condition of the rooms and common areas was disappointing—especially for the price we paid. Unfortunately, it’s just not the vibe we’re looking for, and we won’t be returning.

Disappointed Was disappointed. We reserved a king size room and requested a lower floor. The agent told us they always do their best to fulfill requests. Upon checking in, was told the only king room was on the 17th floor. We were told nothing was available lower. Ended up in a double queen on the 3rd floor which was very tight for a 4 night stay. Did not appear to be sold out. Also the Internet was not available the first night and the next day. This also affected our television.

Winter '24-'25 Snowbird We always feel very welcome at The Strand. We thoroughly enjoyed our annual "Snowbird" time there. Sherice and Linda at the front desk were courteous, always helpful, and making sure we had all we needed during our 3 month stay. Robert in Maintenance continues to keep things running smoothly. Sandy made needed improvements in the breakfast area. Tianna at the bar was extremely efficient and friendly. She was such a delight. Gracie and Linda in housekeeping kept our room and common areas clean. Dave listened to us Snowbirds and was very accommodating, friendly, and making improvements. All the employees made us feel like family while we were there.
