To make the guests' stay comfortable, each suite features a fridge, microwave, TV, and complimentary Wi-Fi.

Branson, Missouri: Family-Friendly Theaters and Concert Halls in the Ozarks

If you take a drive through the Ozarks in Missouri, it might seem like an unlikely place to find glittering lights and stage shows—for the most part, it's a rolling plateau of wooded hills, snaking rivers, and limestone bluffs. But follow down Route 76 and you'll find Branson, which looks like a miniature, more family-friendly version of Las Vegas. Dozens of stages and music halls line Branson's main strip, some of which are owned by stars such as Dolly Parton. On any given night you can watch anything from country music performances to circus acrobatics to magic shows.

If you're traveling with kids, Silver Dollar City is a safe bet; it's located about 5 miles west of the strip. The popular theme park is built around Marvel Cave and modeled after an 18th-century frontier town. Here you can hop on a mine-car roller coaster and take a tour by lantern through limestone caverns.

Go to a real hotel, not a dirty time share scam. TLDR; Pay the extra money and stay at a real, clean hotel, not a time share scam pretending to be a resort. Pros: It was cheap for a studio on a weekend. A two night price was what we would have paid for one night at any other hotel in the Branson area. Cons: Check in was fast and the man at the desk was very friendly and personable. But then you have to go to another "parking desk" to get your parking pass. This desk is actually where they try to get you to sign up for a "tour" of the property that is actually a sales pitch for a time share. 15 minutes of questioning why I wasn't interested in free show tickets and cash. Been down the time share scam road before and I'm not interested. Put a bad taste in my mouth from the start. Once we get to the room, the bed was made nicely, but when we pulled the top sheet back, the bottom sheet looked wrinkled on one side of the bed like someone had slept on it. Upon further checking, there were definitely crumbs in the bed. So housekeeping never changed the sheets and just remade the top blanket. There were spare sheets in the closet, so we changed the sheets ourselves instead of trying to call house keeping. The Studio rooms have very thin connecting doors to the 2 bedroom rooms next door. Great if you know the neighbors. Not so great when that 2 bedroom is full of kids yelling, screaming and crying all evening and into the night. Add to that, the family made food or something that may have been an attempt at Italian, but reeked of burnt tomato sauce and garlic. The thin connecting door did nothing to stop the smell. It smelled up our room so bad, we needed to open the window. Except, the windows don't open. Not really the properties fault, but don't expect much privacy. The room was not very clean. Hair in the tub, the carpet needed a good vacuum, the tile and vinyl flooring had clumps of dirt at the edges of the walls and corners. Water spots on the faucets and mirrors like it had not been cleaned since the last guest. Just an overall dirty feeling. Other guests in the hotel seemed a little sketchy. A couple in a ground floor room sat out on the patio drinking beers out of a cooler. Nothing wrong with that. But maybe throw your empties in the trash instead of throwing them into a pile on the ground. The pile was gone the next morning, but it didn't make us feel like staying. Another man keep circling the parking lot. Not really scoping out the cars, but certainly loitering for some reason for long enough he was noticeable. Maybe not the properties fault, but I saw no staff any time we were there doing even a basic walk through. The property is lit up really bright at night. It actually made it look good. Maybe that was their answer to cheap security. It was so bright, that our room had a twilight feel even with the shades and drapes pulled. I woke up and thought it was 6:00 am. Nope, it was only 2:00 am. At least the foul smell from next door had dissipated. We booked two nights and only stayed one, cutting our Branson trip short. Something just felt off. Like lip stick on a pig.
