Hotel at a Glance: The Tower Hotel

There’s really no bad view from inside the Tower Hotel. Built in 1962 in the Fallsview area, it looms more than 500 feet above Horseshoe Falls, the largest of the cascades that compose Niagara Falls. But just as important as its height is the tower’s unique top-heavy structure, whereby only the highest floors can fit the hotel’s accommodations. Because of this, all of its guest rooms—which occupy floors 27 through 30—offer sweeping panoramic views, adding a magnificent and romantic backdrop to guests’ stay.

  • Prime location over Niagara Falls: The tower sits just 500 yards from the Falls and overlooks the Horseshoe Falls.
  • Close to entertainment: Only a short walk separates the boutique hotel from myriad dining options and the Niagara Fallsview Casino.
  • Romantic perks This Getaway comes with a couples package per stay, which features dining vouchers valid at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Keg Steakhouse + Bar, TGI Fridays Restaurant & Bar, and IHOP.

Niagara Falls, Ontario: Panoramic Views of the Falls near Vegas-Style Casinos and Water Parks

At Niagara Falls, water thunders downward from a height of nearly 200 feet, crashing onto craggy boulders below. The falls straddle the border between Canada and the United States, but the Canadian side of the Niagara River is universally hailed as the finest vantage point to take in all three of Niagara Falls’ photogenic brinks: American, Bridal Veil, and Horseshoe Falls.

Hornblower cruises ferry raincoat-clad passengers around the base of the falls from April to October, depending on the river’s ice conditions. Year-round, Journey Behind the Falls grants a glimpse behind the curtain of Horseshoe Falls—visitors board an elevator that descends 150 feet into the bedrock, then stand at an observation deck steps from the cascading water. A 10-minute walk from the falls is the neon-lit Clifton Hill neighborhood. Its Fallsview Boulevard has plenty of Vegas-style kitsch, including glitzy casinos and indoor water parks.

The hotel itself is very cool looking, the staff were very friendly and the room was clean (and very small, which we knew from reading reviews). We had a great view of one of the large hotels (the Embassy maybe?) that the Tower Hotel is tucked between. Our first sight after entering the room was of a young male guest of the neighbouring hotel clearly mooning the falls. We were close enough that my wife and I would be hard-pressed to miss it (and I did notice her smiling). Sadly the drapes were only opened to take pictures of the falls (we had a clear view of he American Falls, but we had to look down the room's windows to see Niagara Falls), as we both had privacy concerns. We had breakfast the next morning at the IHop restaurant, on the 26th floor of the hotel. The views of the falls from our table were great, but be prepared to pay for the view with an expensive breakfast (our basic breakfast cost $64, even with the $20 off coupon the hotel provides and before the tip).

When I checked in at the Tower Hotel, they upgraded me to the Embassy Suites Hotel ( they are connected) at no additional cost. I had a large suite over looking the falls. The only difference was there were two queen size beds instead of the king.
