Hotel at a Glance: The Westin St. Louis

The “new” Busch Stadium—the third venue to go by that name—sits in the heart of St. Louis. The current incarnation of the St. Louis Cardinals ballpark has a distinct advantage over its predecessor: thanks to its open-air design, fans have a panoramic view of the downtown skyline and the Gateway Arch. Located amid the restored 19th-century warehouses of the historical Cupples District, the AAA Four Diamond Westin St. Louis is within walking distance of both the arch and the stadium, which you can tour year round.

  • American cuisine is on the menu at Clark Street Grill, which is designed to look like a renovated warehouse. This Getaway includes daily breakfast for two.
  • Mapped 3- and 5-mile running routes from the hotel let you see local scenery during your workout.

St. Louis, Missouri: Urban Park Space and Brewery Tours in the Gateway City

The first thing you notice about the St. Louis Gateway Arch is its height: at 630 feet, it’s the tallest manmade monument in the United States, and it dwarfs the other buildings of the St. Louis skyline. Less obvious is the fact that the Arch is exactly as tall as it is wide, stretching out along the banks of the Mississippi River. You can take a ride to the summit for a bird’s-eye view of the city’s skyline and riverboats riding the Mississippi. Make sure you get to the Arch before 10 a.m.; after that, the lines start to get long, and tickets sometimes sell out in the afternoon.

Forest Park’s more than 1,200 acres of green space are also worth a visit. Contained in this space is the Saint Louis Zoo, which corrals hundreds of species in several different habitats; it’s frequently cited as one of the best zoos in the country, and entrance is free. At high noon, sunbeams create a natural light show on the geometric façade of the Jewel Box, a 1936 art-deco greenhouse in the southeast quadrant of the park. To the north, there’s the Boathouse, where you can rent a pedal-powered boat to explore Post-Dispatch Lake.

Though it was originally a hub for railroads and the fur trade, St. Louis eventually became known for being the headquarters of brewing giant Anheuser-Busch, which began producing there in 1852. On a tour through the red-brick brewery, you can sample beers and visit the stables where the company keeps its iconic clydesdale horses.

Location Is Perfect We traveled there for a baseball game and talk about convenience, the field is just across the street. If you’d like to see Gateway Arch that too is in walking distance. The room was very clean and spacious. The only reason for the 4 stars out of 5 is because of the flat extremely soft pillows I needed to stack.

The is easily the worst Westin hotel I have stayed in, though I usually love the chain To be clear, it isn't a terrible hotel, just far below the standards that I have come to expect from staying numerous times at hotels in this chain. And most of the staff are quite pleasant and helpful too. The room is disappointing in many small ways. No conditioner, no body wash, one measly bar of soap for shower, bath and sink. They only provided decaffeinated coffee and I don't run on that stuff. The windows are tiny and there are not enough lights to comfortable illuminate the room. The pillows are horribly soft. No garbage can in the bathroom. Probably due to COVID, the rooms are only serviced upon request. But I have requested service two days in a row and nothing was done. The garbage is overflowing, the towels are dirty. The two bottles of water provided at check in, a distant memory. When I follow up with Service Express they just put me on hold. There is no room service. The only restaurant in the hotel is a pizza place. There are no healthy options. If you are vegan or vegetarian or health conscious, your only choice in Doordash. Some days they put out early morning coffee, and some days they do not. The front desk can't explain why. The gym is open, even though the website says it is closed. It's a rudimentary gym, and not up to Westin standards. There is no place to fill you water bottle and no bottled water provided. I will be back for business in St. Louis quite frequently and will not stay here again, there are other good choices nearby.

Great Staff and location disappointing room If you want an close to the ballpark this is close for sure, right across the from 3rd base gate. Staff is friendly. The room we had had heavy mold in areas on the bathroom ceiling, the bed looked like someone laid down after making the bed. Not sure what the layout was suppose to be. But it was almost like someone started cleaning then took a nap and forgot to finish before leaving. There was a mini fridge however there was trash in it. DO NOT trust the word “premium” you get nothing different and pay more. Oh the shower had lots of pressure that was nice besides the mold. Carpet was new but dingy
