A Man, a woman, a dog, a busted fuel pump and 5 days at Camp Boutique, AKA The Wren, Missoula, MT Great location, my truck broke down 1/2 block away and the repair shop was a block away. 5 nights enforced by waiting for parts. Good walking distance from all of downtown and the river parks. Atmosphere is camp boutique. I was once a wildfire fighter and though the room was nice it was as spartan as a spike camp with industrial lighting. Thr room was spare, clean , needed a second chair, a microwave, coffee pot, refrigerator. Staff supplied a microwave on request. Inner window looked out on inner courtyard. Shower was large, like standing in a canyon with a waterfall and soap to make you smell the aromas of the great outdoors, even if they were high class new York brands. Staff was great, I mean really great. . Did I say they were great? They really were. This is a place for the well healed to pretend they are at a base camp and ready to climb mountains. Nicer than any base camp I was ever in during my years in wildfire service. But because of the staff The Wren grew on me. Lots of dogs staying here, I mean real dogs attached to their owners. I suggest for some authentic rustic, go to the union bar across the street. Perfect mountain dive bar . Great burgers. The base camp café could use some gluten free pastries. Free coffee for Wren Guests. After the stress of the broken down truck and the sticker price on the repair and hotel the Wren grew on me, my wife and the dog. We would stay there again.

Adventures, transporting experience, guided or not , this is the place!! If you’re a seeker of the most premier location this is it!! Stop! Just reserve the room for your stay, trust us on this one. The atmosphere is a perfect serving of true “old Montana” hospitality and beliefs deeply rooted into the most affordable, perfectly quaint and simple, quiet and get away from it in the middle of town experience you will ever find! The staff is absolutely fantastic and are the perfect “guides” for your excursions. Bryant (our guide that checked us into our room and created the nostalgic atmosphere of even in the midst of downtown hustle you can still be transported to the sanctity of the mountains and lakes. So I say again if you’re still with me, follow the steps of your intuition telling you “Hey, THIS! This is the hitching post we need, nay deserve!” The value is unbeatable so venture your way to the downtown beauty of ZooTown!! p.s. the robes have pockets!! ;)
