Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

Didn’t live up to any expectations The hotel was definitely a disappointment. I emailed the reception before arriving and did not get any response to my query. The photos of the rooms are not accurate. Whilst clean they are very small. One of the elevators was out of action for over 3 days. This made access to rooms and moving luggage extremely difficult with wait times unreasonable. Surely it does not take 3 days to fix an elevator. Staff were uninformed of the progress and the manager was nowhere to be seen. I will not be back. With such a choice of accomodation in NY this was not acceptable. Not sure where my refund or compensation will go.

Exceptionally unsatisfactory hotel experience I stayed at this hotel for a week and was deeply disappointed. From the start, service was inconsistent and unhelpful. I was never told that rooms are only cleaned every other day, and even when I scheduled cleaning times, they were ignored. One day I had to wait in the hallway for housekeeping outside my requested hours. Coffee and basic amenities were hardly replenished, even after repeated requests. The room was extremely small, poorly lit, and uncomfortable for the price (nearly $3,000). Elevator waits were long every day. The biggest issue, however, was the lack of accountability: staff would say “yes” to every request but never follow through. Even after asking for the manager, I never heard back. For the price, this stay was absolutely not worth it. I cannot recommend this property and hope management takes real action, as no guest should have this experience.

Don’t stay here Real shame, they have not returned my security deposit, and we’re nearly a month after our stay, it was only one night as well. I have contacted them twice and have not received any information about why they’ve still got hold of my money. Happy to amend the review when/if this can be resolved, but makes me think they’re not very on top of things, plus have stolen about £150 from me. Stayed in 3 other hotels during our trip to the US and haven’t had this issue at any of them. Really poor.
