Times Square, Manhattan: Flashy Neon Lights and World-Class Culture

Times Square is at the intersection of Broadway and Seventh Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. The famous address—affectionately known as “the Crossroads of the World”—is home to hypnotizing billboards, giant wraparound news tickers, and the neon lights of Broadway. Beyond the glitz and gimmicks, there are a number of cultural offerings in the area, ranging from museums to Michelin-rated restaurants. Buildings of historical and architectural interest include the Paramount Building and One Times Square, site of the annual New Year's Eve ball drop.

Nearby, the Museum of Modern Art houses a trove of masterpieces including Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night, Claude Monet's Water Lilies paintings, and Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans. Save time for a stroll through the museum's outdoor sculpture garden, where installations are clustered around sparkling reflecting pools. About a mile north of Times Square, the David H. Koch Theater is home to one of the world’s foremost dance companies—the New York City Ballet, which stages contemporary works as well as classics like Swan Lake and The Nutcracker.

Very little for your money, good location Our stay here was not great. It felt like they offered the least possible. Our crowded hallway was always packed with cleaning carts and garbage. The rooms were tiny, no fridges, no coffee makers. We were ok, as long as we had a good place to sleep. The final night, that ended. The air conditioning in our room stopped working in the August heat and would start heating the room. When we called, they sent someone who unplugged it and said call him if it didn't work through a message on his phone. I tried speaking to someone at the front desk who offered to look for a different room with a single bed for a fee. With three people in our room, this was not a great option. She finally offered a room with a king bed for no additional charge. I took the key, to discuss the options with the rest of my group, since it was already late at night. At 2 am, she returned banging on our door, to demand the key card back. Not sure why. I later learned there were larger rooms open and they just didn't offer them to us. It was a terrible night of sleep and a terrible way to end our trip. I would not stay here again.

Great Boutique Hotel Hats off to this quaint boutique hotel in New York! The staff is amazing, we really enjoyed the service that Rafael and his staff provided. This hotel is very convient to the theatres which was the purpose of the trip. Best beds I have slept on!! They provide a light breaky at your door in the morning to start your day. YES I would stay again!
