Hotel at a Glance: 3.5-Star Top-Secret Phoenix Hotel

Though this hotel is located just a few miles from downtown Phoenix, its outdoor spaces make it feel like a far-off resort. Waterfalls cascade over rocks into swimming pools, blooming gardens provide spots for peaceful reflection, and trees shade an amphitheater.

  • The onsite restaurant serves a complimentary buffet for breakfast, then pairs cocktails with truffle chicken pot pie at night. Some of this Getaway’s options include a daily $30 dinner credit.
  • In-room amenities: a 37-inch flat-screen HDTV, mini fridge, microwave, and free WiFi
  • Work up a sweat in the 24-hour fitness center.
  • Get competitive on tennis and sand-volleyball courts.
  • Explore the city with easy access to museums, Arizona State University, and University of Phoenix Stadium.

Phoenix, Arizona: Bustling Metropolis and Native American Culture Surrounded by Desert

Phoenix enjoys about 300 days of sunshine a year, which has helped it to balloon into the sixth-largest city by population in the United States. It’s also 1 of only 12 US cities with at least four major sports teams: the Arizona Cardinals (NFL), the Phoenix Suns (NBA), the Arizona Diamondbacks (MLB), and the Phoenix Coyotes (NHL).

Though the topography of the Phoenix area is all desert, it’s by no means desolate. Camelback Mountain is a designated city park area with scenic trails that wind past boulders and red-sandstone formations; climb to the very top for a view of the entire city. Or hit the themed trails at the Desert Botanical Garden filled with southwestern flora such as huge sonoran cacti and other moisture-hoarding succulents. Either way, plan hikes in the early morning or twilight hours to catch the most stunning sunlit views and stay cool.

For an in-depth look at the cultures of Arizona’s indigenous population, browse the 12 exhibition galleries and sculpture garden at the Heard Museum. The collection’s nearly 40,000 pieces of art range from 500 Hopi katsina dolls to a full-size Pueblo oven. In nearby Scottsdale, Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West was the renowned prairie-style architect’s winter home as well as a campus for his architecture school.

The location is perfect for downtown! Away from chaos but close enough to bike or even walk to Central Ave! Also, the room itself is nice, quant and accommodating. There's also plenty of covered parking in a garage! Beds were very comfy and the coffee was good! The only thing is, the walls are a little thin but what hotels don't have thin walls anyways!

TERRIBLE! Hotel cancelled room on day of booking - left me stranded - refused to help Midtown Garden Hotel Phoenix TERRIBLE! Hotel cancelled room on day of booking - left me stranded - refused to help TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE! TERRIBLE service...! stay away Hotel cancelled booking on day of check-in... What can I say.... I booked through a third party ..... arrived at the hotel after getting off my flight... only to be told - that they had canclled my room that morning due to a leak in the roof - and that they were sold out. As I had booked thorugh a third party - they refused to assist in finding alternative lodging... and was told - "it was also my responsbility to contact the hotel".... (I joke not....).. person on the Front Desk.. would not let me speak to a manager.... tried to explain - my third party was based in Australia.... didn't matter to the lady on reception.. so I was left in the hotel lobby - trying to find a hotel (last minute) to check in that nigh.... Thanks for nothing Midtown Garden Hotel Phoenix Service is terrible... I can't comment on rooms or cleanliness... but I would only recommend to AVOID

One night on the way to Grand Canyon We stayed at this hotel for one night after a long flight from Vancouver. Hotel is under renovation therefore can't leave a descent review. We appreciate the efforts of the staff to make our stay pleasant. Can't complain and thank you.

DONT STAY HERE, ITS A SCAM! This place is a dump. When we arrived they couldn’t prove a room key for any of the guests. We had to be escorted to our room every time we entered. None of the amenities were advertised as “not in use or being renovated”. We arrived and we were told that the restaurant was closed , the bar was not open either . The pools and patio are were also closed. So basically it’s false advertising. Our room did not even have lighting outside the door, inside the room , no hot water , no smoke alarm ( exposed wires and the tv didn’t even work! Not to mention the parking garage has zero lighting and it’s covered in trash , and is literally falling apart. No security , completely unsafe and not a single thing was done to make anything right by the front desk. DONT STAY HERE!
