Sonoma Valley, California: Relaxed Wine Country and Majestic Redwoods

The Sonoma Valley, located about an hour north of San Francisco, is best known for its wine. The mild climate here allows winemakers to grow cool-weather varietals such as pinot noir and chardonnay. But the valley has a varied landscape; some areas are prime for growing hot-weather vines, too.

The 17 miles of country roads that connect the sleepy hamlet of Kenwood to the Carneros appellation lead to more than 40 boutique wineries, most small and family-owned. Many are tucked amid oak forests and wildflower meadows. Compared to its neighbor Napa Valley (about 15 miles away), Sonoma feels a little more relaxed and remote: the wineries here are generally more secluded from one another than those in Napa, and tasting rooms tend to be less crowded.

Over billing/Fraud First, hotel “policy” is to put a $100 charge per night on your credit card. I expressed my dissatisfaction with this and was given two breakfast vouchers. I used one for a very sub standard breakfast. I left the server the voucher a $6 tip and the voucher. The day I checked out, I made sure there were no further charges to my credit card. No you are checked out. Almost immediately, I received a receipt for 25.71 for breakfast and the server had included a $5 tip. I hadn’t signed for anything or left my room number. I called the front desk at the hotel, and the girl that answered promised to credit my credit card. I called Hilton Honors to complain and got a condescending unhelpful ass of a girl. I have stayed at Hilton through the years over 100 times. This gave me pause and was clearly a planned fraud at the hotel and Hilton Corp wasn’t going to do a damn thing about it The house keeping service was dreadful. It is not many times that I write a review but these people need a wake up call. I am in the Santa Rosa area quite a bit which Rhonert Park is part of. Never again!

Great Stay, Very Comfortable Great stay - the hotel staff (especially Danette and Richard) went above and beyond during a very stressful time in our lives (moving and waiting for our stuff to arrive). The restaurant staff were great too! I think this hotel got a lot better after it became a Hilton hotel.

Excellent 6 stars. Nothing better around. Outstanding staff, outstanding design and cleanliness. The hotel is an absolute joy. I would give it 6 stars and I will be a regular here. This is an amazing spot, the pool, the hot tub, the food, and the amazing staff I got their names they are so sweet and wonderful. Johnnie at the bar, Richard and Ayushi at the front desk are all gems. Ayushi checked me in and is a doll. Good for the business! What a great place, you will not believe the quality of this hotel. I stay all over and just got back from Vegas and I love this place !
