Tucson, Arizona: Southwestern History and Culture amid the Cacti

Over Tucson’s long history, it’s absorbed elements from the many peoples who have lived or passed through here: Native Americans, Europeans, Latinos, and Asians to name a few. Today, this unique blend is especially evident in the downtown restaurant scene, where you can get authentic chilies rellenos, sushi, and upscale bistro food with fine wines from nearby vintners.

Visitors can soak up the area’s gorgeous natural landscape at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, a combined botanical garden and zoo. Here, gila monsters and more than 1,200 kinds of plants inhabit 21 acres of desert scenery. Among Tucson’s manmade wonders is Mission San Xavier del Bac, a white adobe church whose interior is adorned with frescoes and sculptures. It was built in the 1700s and is one of the oldest intact European structures in Arizona.

This resort was colorful. Everything was just okay. Our beds were hard. I can see why they only have 4 stars. I try to order room service and my phone wouldn't read the QR Code. They have no other way to read the menu, so We had to go off property to find something to eat due to all the restaurants needed reservations and we're already full.

Most beautiful resort! I loved the area for kids with the slide that we had so much fun on. I also loved that there was a separate area for adults only, when I needed a break from kid noise. The room was huge and had an amazing view of the mountains and pools.

Overall, our stay was great, a lot of things were closed or were done in a different format due to Covid-19. The swim up bar was closed, spa closed, Azul was open for breakfast, but overpriced now that all the food is in plastic. The bed was definitely not a king sized bed and the hotel needs some updates here and there. Pools were great! Overall we enjoyed our stay!
