Island Grand at TradeWinds Beach Resort: A Coastal Retreat Steeped in Floridian Legacy

Nestled on the sun-drenched shores of St. Pete Beach, Island Grand at TradeWinds exudes an authoritative aura of historical grandeur and relaxed coastal elegance. This beachfront resort, with its Floribbean charm and marine-inspired décor, has been a proud chapter in Florida’s hospitality narrative. Guests find themselves embraced by expansive, light-filled accommodations designed for comfort and conviviality, each reflecting the region’s maritime heritage and legacy of seaside leisure.

Beyond the elegant rooms, Island Grand is a vibrant microcosm of Florida’s storied past and present. Five sparkling pools, a high-tide water slide, and a floating water park offer both playful energy and serene enjoyment, while kayaking, paddleboarding, and parasailing invite guests to engage with the gulf’s timeless rhythm. Dining here is both a celebration and a tradition — from the red-sauce classics at Palm Court Italian to casual beachside refreshments, every meal honors the resort’s commitment to spirited recreation and refined hospitality.

Saint Pete Beach: Sun-Kissed Shores With a Legacy of Leisure

Stretching along the shimmering Gulf of Mexico, Saint Pete Beach stands as a beacon of coastal charm and historic pride on Florida’s west coast. Once a mosaic of independent beach communities, this barrier island was unified in 1957, and since then, it has gracefully blended its storied past with the carefree rhythm of modern seaside life. The area’s legacy is rooted in early 20th-century resort development, drawing travelers with its white sands, warm breezes, and the promise of year-round sun. Anchored by the iconic Don CeSar Hotel—an opulent 1920s “Pink Palace” that has welcomed presidents and movie stars—Saint Pete Beach is not merely a destination; it is a chapter in Florida’s coastal heritage.

Beyond its celebrated history, the beach offers a rich natural and cultural landscape. Gentle waves lap against the shore as parasailers glide above and dolphins dance offshore, while the nearby Corey Avenue District hums with boutiques, galleries, and cafés that capture the town’s artistic soul. The proximity to Fort De Soto Park and its historic fort, trails, and mangroves links the visitor experience with deeper layers of Florida’s military and maritime past. Whether strolling beneath fiery Gulf sunsets or exploring a legacy steeped in elegance and endurance, Saint Pete Beach remains a sun-drenched testament to Florida’s enduring coastal allure.

Another great stay This was our second visit to Tradewinds and it was a lot of fun once again. The buildings are older at this resort, but they are SO well cared for. The resort is very clean and the staff were all very nice. Our room was clean and everything was up to date. There were plenty of pools to choose from and the beach amenities were plentiful. The only complaints I have are the slow, hot elevators and the closure of some restaurants due to renovations. Otherwise it was a great stay!
