complete comfort in Times Square It's an excellent hotel because the location allows you to walk to almost all the attractions in Midtown, and for those you need transportation, there are many options for buses and the metro. The area is safe and there are always people around. Another important point is that you have all the theaters near so it's a great location if you want to go to a show at night. Clean facilities, easy check-in and check-out, the cleaning staff were always friendly and the room was always spotless… a bonus? The bed and pillows were absolutely exquisite, perfect for relaxing after a day of exploring. Before I left, I had already decided that this would be my place to stay next time; moreover, it's being renovated, so I will definitely return.

Hotel at a Glance: The Gallivant Times Square

Steeped in nearly a century of New York City history, The Gallivant Times Square stands as a beacon of timeless elegance and modern comfort in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. Originally opened in 1928 as the Hotel President, this storied property was designed by architect Hyman Isaac Feldman and has since evolved into an independent haven for today’s urban explorers. Its prime location places guests just steps away from the electric energy of Times Square, while its thoughtful design ensures a peaceful retreat above the bustling streets below.

At The Gallivant Times Square, every stay is an invitation to embrace the spirit of discovery. Whether you're traveling solo, with a partner, or a group of friends, the hotel offers a welcoming sanctuary amid the city’s endless attractions. World-class dining options surround the property, from Vietnamese flavors at An’nam to hearty Irish pub fare at Hurley’s, ensuring every culinary craving is satisfied. Blending historic charm with contemporary convenience, this hotel is more than just a place to sleep—it’s a gateway to the very best of New York City.

New York City, NY: The Ever-Beating Heart of American Ambition

Few cities command the world’s imagination quite like New York City—a metropolis that rises from the edge of the Atlantic as a towering emblem of resilience, reinvention, and raw energy. Home to over eight million people and the birthplace of countless cultural revolutions, NYC is a patchwork of distinct boroughs unified by an unyielding spirit. From the granite canyons of Manhattan to the creative pulse of Brooklyn and the storied enclaves of the Bronx, Queens, and Staten Island, the city remains an unrivaled theater of dreams where every street corner hums with history, and every skyline silhouette evokes global admiration.

At once a financial powerhouse, artistic crucible, and political epicenter, New York City’s influence spans continents. It is where Broadway sets the stage for world-class theater, Wall Street dictates the tempo of markets, and the Statue of Liberty greets seekers of a better life with timeless grace. Its past is etched into landmarks like Ellis Island and the Empire State Building, while its future is written daily in the innovation hubs of Silicon Alley and the academic halls of Columbia and NYU. In New York, every block tells a story—and every story, no matter how improbable, finds a place to unfold.

Don't stay here the pictures do not match the hotel. The first room we checked into didn't have a desk that was in the photos. I was told not all rooms are like the pictures. A very nice girl named Analinda moved us to a new room. This room had a desk but was right across from the elevator and the TV didn't work. Ding, ding, ding from the elevator is what we heard all night. And one of the windows was missing a curtain. When I asked for ice I was told the ice machine was on the 7th floor. When I asked for an ice bucket I was told they would send one up. An hour later I was told they don't have any. There are signs saying there are ice machines on floors 4, 7, 10 & 15. The machines on floors 4, 7 & 15 don't work and the door to the machine in floor 10 was locked. This hotel is old, there is bad and peeling paint everywhere, the hall carpets are stained, the elevators are scratched up and tired. The rooms are minimal without any drawers except for the tiny drawer in the desk. The house keeping carts are in the halls all night long. The only good thing I can say is the rooms and bathrooms are clean. For $250/night I expect better accomodations and a more updated hotel that better matches the pictures on their website.

The Gallivant. Resort fees. The hotel was okay. The resort fee was a problem. We paid 350 dollars and when we left, we were told that the money would be refunded after a few days and now 6 weeks later still no refund. We tried to ring them, no response, we emailed them ,no response, we contacted our travel agents, even they couldn't get a decent response from them. Now, we are trying our credit card company, but we doubt that even they will not be able to do anything. The resort fee seems to be a con. A way of getting extra money from unsuspecting people. I wish that someone could advice us as what to do or how they might have got their refund.

It's liking staying at the scene of a crime This is the type of venue that will one day be featured in a true crime documentary. The building is literally falling apart with zero upkeep. The walls are faded, lights are missing, there are holes in the walls, extension cords to charge your electronics, I would not wish this stay on anyone.
