Twin Fin SCAMS guests with a faulty smoke detectors! BEWARE! Worst hotel experience ever. We checked in on 9/28 and after a long day of traveling and exploring the area, we decided to call it an early night. Our room was FREEZING!! so we decided to turn off the AC before we went to bed that night. Unfortunately that was the worst thing we could have ever done because we had a rude awakening the next morning when we were hit with a $500 FEE FOR SMOKING! They slid a paper underneath our door with a graph of the "air quality" declining which apparently signifies smoking. We noticed that the timestamp on that graph was the same time that we turned off the AC and went to bed. We let the front desk know right away and they said, "Turning off the AC doesn't trigger the smoking detector" and I'm sure it doesn't but the time that the detector was "triggered" is consistent with the time that the AC was turned off, so in this case, I'm confident it did. If the air quality in this hotel is poor without air flow, that's on them, not us. It may have been an anomaly but it doesn't deny the fact that it happened. We have never smoked a DAY or SECOND in our life EVER. Front desk had us fill out a claimant statement to forward to management but proceeded to tell us that once it's triggered, the fee is non-refundable, period. Instead of investigating it further, they just doubled down and insisted that the charge was valid without providing a shred of evidence besides a graph that showed declining air quality in the room. Didn't even offer to come into the room to see/smell that it was in pristine condition with not a single bit of smoke in the air. Nothing. We've been trying to get updates for over a week now and an assistant manager FINALLY answered and basically just said that there was nothing that he could do to help us. He kept reiterating that people lie about not smoking all the time and how they work with a third-party company and how their detectors and their technology never fails and it wouldn't get triggered for no reason. He just kept dismissing everything and refused to hear us out. He just kept insinuating that we were "lying" and how we were advised of the $500 smoking fee during check in so we shouldn't have been surprised. Omg. Of course we are aware of said fee. WE WERE SURPRISED BECAUSE WE GOT CHARGED THE FEE WHEN WE NEVER SMOKED IN THE ROOM AT ALL. It was the most frustrating conversation and I truly have never experienced such poor customer service in my entire life. It's shocking how quick they are to accuse honest guests of "smoking violations." It honestly feels like a predatory money-grabbing policy designed to squeeze extra revenue from their guests. We're not the only ones that this has happened to either. They have multiple reviews for the same issue (which we brought up to them) and he again just insinuated that we were all lying and the the "system never fails" (which apparently it does and has). No accountability was taken, no apologies. Nothing was done on their end to even try to rectify this situation and to help turn this god-awful experience into a positive one.. We will be contacting an attorney this week to settle this issue legally since "nothing can be done" from the Twin Fin. I wish I could love the hotel because the actual hotel itself isn't bad and the location is good but this entire experience has turned me off from the Twin Fin. They do not care about their customers. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone. Absolutely awful management. So much for the "aloha" spirit, right?

Look No Further Excellent location. The last big hotel on a two mile strip of Waikiki. Less traffic less noice and crowds. Directly across the street from the beach. Room nice. Beds great. I upgraded to partial ocean view and had spectacular views especially of sunsets from my balcony. Staff totally dedicated, restaurant food excellent. Good music. Fun crowd. Nice pool and umbrellas and chairs. So many free amenities and activities. Walkable area and safe. Close to the big malls with restaurants and so many restaurants and shops close by. Loved my stay.

Give it a miss if you want more than just a good location coz there are plenty of choices along the same frontage Took a 'Trip a Deal' package from Australia which included some pre, and post cruise accommodation at The Twin Fin Hotel in Waikiki. The pictures on the internet are absolutely NOT representative of what you actually get. The hotel (if you can call it that) is very tired and needs a lot of TLC to bring it up to the 'alleged' 4 star rating. I have been running businesses in Australia for 50 years and travelled extensively overseas and never have I been as gob smacked at the lack of amenities at this 'so called resort (be careful they don't try to charge you the $100 per day 'bogus' resort fee) I tried to get some real cups /saucers /coffee mugs in our room, and a glass or two would have been nice to go with the crappy old wooden ice bucket in the room but was told they could only give me additional paper cups because (WAIT FOR IT!) they don't have food or beverage services at this hotel. The Bar and restaurant adjacent / adjoining the hotel is not run by the hotel, so you have to pay for any food or beverage separately (no room charge available) Mind you that venue Tiki's was the only redeeming feature of our stay. But wait it gets better! After the cruise (which was great) sadly we had to return to the 'Trip a Deal' incl pre-booked accommodation at The Twin Fin and this time upon arrival in the morning we were told our room wasn't ready but we could pay $45 to up grade to a nice view room which was available then, otherwise we had to wait until 4pm. After negotiating, we got the 'scam' fee down to $30 but felt like we'd been blackmailed into paying more jut so we could get into a room at a decent hour. The upshot is, in the word HOTEL, remove the letter T and put in a V and HOVEL is a more accurate description. Note to 'Trip a Deal' don't advertise 4 stars when at best its 3 stars so check out your venues more thoroughly in future, or tell it like it is. Pam Lavender SA
