Hotel at a Glance: Varsity Clubs of America - Tucson

The lobby at Varsity Clubs of America - Tucson leaves no doubt as to its theme. Above the front desk, there’s artwork depicting former University of Arizona basketball star Steve Kerr and a gymnast on a balance beam. The lobby’s athletic theme extends to the one-bedroom units, where simple contemporary furniture mixes with large canvas paintings of Arizona landscapes. Amenities include flat-screen TVs with cable and separate living rooms. Each suite also has a kitchenette with an apartment-size fridge, stovetop, microwave, and utensils.

  • Sports HQ: With the University of Arizona campus 2 miles away, the hotel is a great home base for those visiting town to catch Pac-12 games at the nearby stadiums.
  • Play around with a trip to the game room or a round of billiards on the pool table.
  • Take a dip in the outdoor swimming pool framed by scenic palm trees and a view of the Catalina Mountains.

Tucson, Arizona: Southwestern History and Culture amid the Cacti

Over Tucson’s long history, it’s absorbed elements from the many peoples who have lived or passed through here: Native Americans, Europeans, Latinos, and Asians to name a few. Today, this unique blend is especially evident in the downtown restaurant scene, where you can get authentic chilies rellenos, sushi, and upscale bistro food with fine wines from nearby vintners.

Visitors can soak up the area’s gorgeous natural landscape at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, a combined botanical garden and zoo. Here, gila monsters and more than 1,200 kinds of plants inhabit 21 acres of desert scenery. Among Tucson’s manmade wonders is Mission San Xavier del Bac, a white adobe church whose interior is adorned with frescoes and sculptures. It was built in the 1700s and is one of the oldest intact European structures in Arizona.

This is a very nice place to stay. It is like a deluxe one-bedroom apartment. it has a saltwater pool which my son and wife loved. Salt water pools are good for the eyes and skin I loved it! The front desk staff was very attentive friendly and outgoing.
