Puerto Vallarta, Mexico: Tropical Paradise with Cosmopolitan Flair

Puerto Vallarta is perhaps Mexico’s most sophisticated vacation destination, with expansive beaches, trendy restaurants, and cobblestone streets leading to beautifully preserved 19th-century churches. A 16-block boardwalk known as the malecón offers unobstructed ocean views as it extends from the city center, past fountains and a famous 9-foot-high statue of a boy riding a seahorse.

Called “the most gay-friendly city in Mexico” by Frommer’s, Vallarta draws a diverse crowd of vacationers intent on relaxing during the day and living it up at night, bouncing between the city’s numerous dance clubs. For a glimpse of the city’s history, head to Viejo Vallarta, also known as Old Town, where artists peddle shawls and piñatas and mariachi bands serenade couples dancing on Plaza Principal.

The rooms are not what the pictures show We were accosted from arrival by the Time Share concierges. Don't fall into that trap of getting free stuff. It states only 90 min but its more like 5 hours of your time. The 1 bed room I picked had a veranda all the way around so you could have a view from the living room or the bed. After seeing the room they gave me, I went back to the desk and showed them the picture of what I booked and was told they do not have any rooms like that. It loud and noisy as you can hear other rooms and doors slamming all hours. I am so sad that I wasted 4 days here in a room that was not as advertised.

Difficult to deal with Trying to get through to reservations is a nightmare. We have booked 4 weeks and trying to get confirmation and information. The concierge will not take calls as the airport is a disaster for pickups and overcharge for the drive to the resorts.

Not Ideal for an All Inclusive Vacation! Though our room was appropriate for a family of five, the service and amenities advertised were not. For example, at the time of booking, the site reflected the two-bedroom/three bathroom superior suite to include a washer and dryer. This was confirmed two separate times via phone prior to booking. This was not the case. Of all the years staying at all inclusive resorts, we have never experienced a facility to run out of food or not have a place to eat due to closures. At least this is what we were told as we stood on line for about an hour trying to feed our kids. As we ate one evening an intoxicated resident urinated feet from us at another table. Not an environment i'd want to dine in. This individual should have been escorted either to their room or to a designated area away from the general population. Instead, he was allowed to stay and even move about the area. I understand the pandemic plays a role in the downsized workforce but booking should be capped if unable to provide services and a clean safe environment. I appreciate the managers such as Ceasar who were professional and found a way to cater to our needs but we will never chance staying here again.
