Isle of Palms, South Carolina: Secluded Beaches in Upscale Enclave near Charleston

Isle of Palms, an affluent barrier island northeast of Charleston, has remained a popular vacation spot since the early 1900s, thanks to its pristine beaches, pleasant year-round temperatures, and relative seclusion. It’s a quiet place where you can enjoy breakfast or lunch at a café along the waterfront or climb aboard a tour boat to explore neighboring islands. Keep an eye out for native pelicans, bottlenose dolphins, and loggerhead sea turtles, who come ashore to lay their eggs.

About 18 miles away is the historic city of Charleston, steeped in old-fashioned Southern glamour. Some antebellum mansions have been converted to fine-dining restaurants where you can partake in elegant dinners amid vintage decor. Elsewhere in Charleston’s historic district, take a stroll through the public garden and historic landmark known as the Battery & White Point Gardens. After the Civil War began, this waterfront park was fortified with Confederate cannons and mortars, some of which are still on display today.

Wonderful family Trip We just completed a family trip with 14 family members. We rented two separate houses and both were wonderful. We had a great stay and loved all the amenities. For such a large place, it felt very private yet anything you wanted to do was right there on the property. It was a awesome stay!

Disappointed The resort and amenities were fine. Food selection was limited. Coastal Provision was terrible, both dinner and breakffast. Some selections were delivered that were not ordered and some ordered items arrived after we finished eating. At breakfast, eggs were vastly undercooked and hair was found in food. In summary, love the resort but food selection, preparation and taste were very much subpar for the price.

A mini Hilton Head The resort was very appealing to the eye and the amenities were generally good. The service in the hotel was good . The restaurant service and quality left a little to be desired. The pool and the beach were very good , but once again , there was no concerted effort with service there as well. The golf was veff to y nice and it reminded us of our old home on Hilton Head.
