Hotel at a Glance: Wilderness at the Smokies

Despite its name, you might find a few things at Wilderness at the Smokies that aren't naturally occurring in the wild. For one, it's rare that you find water slides growing with the trees, but you'll definitely find them at the Wilderness at the Smokies. In fact, you'll find enough to fill three water parks—one indoor and two out. But that's not all the fun: ropes courses, climbing walls, and a mega arcade full of games are also part of the resort's entertainment options.

  • Ready, aim, fire!: Perfect your sharp-shooting at the laser tag arena (additional fee).
  • Secret agents welcome: Test out your super-spy skills with the Copperhead, a laser maze where you'll twist and contort your body to avoid the beams.
  • Bring your appetite to the onsite Thirsty Miner and Hidden Trail Restaurants (restrictions apply).
  • Get creative at paint-your-own-pottery nights.
  • Perfect your southern twang at Dollywood, which is about 9 miles away.
  • Hike through a different kind of wilderness at the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is about 18 miles away.

Pigeon Forge, Tennessee: Family-Friendly Attractions in the Great Smoky Mountains

Though it’s secluded in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, Pigeon Forge is home to some quirky destinations, including Dollywood, a Titanic museum that looks just like the famed ocean liner from the outside, and an interactive children’s museum housed in an upside-down three-story building. In Pigeon Forge’s historical town center, a cluster of old-fashioned specialty shops and restaurants forms the Old Mill Square along the Little Pigeon River. Inside the mill, a pair of 4,600-pound granite stones has been grinding grain since the early 1800s.

Even tho the groupon was for $279 for 2 nights after resort fees per day and taxes I end up paying $405 which was still a good deal bcuz there's so much for the kids to do there for basically $202 per night. Our room at StoneHill on the 3rd floor ending in 37 was clean. My bed was uncomfortable but my mom said hers was very comfortable. My 6 & 7yr olds slept on the pullout couch which was a cool experience within itself for them bcuz they had never seen one before 🤣.. There were plenty of towels & wash cloths. TV remote didn't work so mom couldn't watch TV tho...I will say that the Wilderness WaterDome was ok, the boys had an absolute ball. They loved the surf simulator, wave pool & the arcade. That free $50 arcade card really made their day. The virtual games are kinda pricey tho & a couple of the games didnt work but charged them anyway..but nontheless they really enjoyed their fall break .

The arcade was really fun and we also tried the mini gold and mini bowling. We had a fun time with the kids. They loved the wave pool. I also loved that even on the check out day you could still use the water park no additional charge.

Really enjoyed our stay! Check in was really easy, received everything I was supposed to, room was as described. Wish there was vacuum available since room service doesn't come in the room during the stay. Resort food is a little pricey but you get large portions, so it balances. No unexpected charges. Wish there was a "parents' night out" or "hourly dropoff" so the parents could enjoy some of the vacation together. Arcade was half off during morning hours making the voucher stretch longer. Had a great time! Perfect for my 6 and 4 year olds.
