Hotel at a Glance: Wilderness at the Smokies Stone Hill Lodge

Wilderness at the Smokies is home to the Wild WaterDome, Tennessee’s Largest Indoor Waterpark, which features a see-through roof and a newly completed 40,000 square foot expansion in December of 2023! The expansion includes a three-story water coaster, a Lazy River equipped with LED color changing lighting and a revamped indoor/outdoor hot spa. In addition, we’ve added Lookout Lagoon – a roof top pool with a glass edge offering fantastic views of the Great Smoky Mountains. Last but certainly not least, we completely overhauled our multi-level water play feature – Washout Mountain. This new structure features 45 play and spray features, four body slides and two pool sliders for the lil’ squirts to enjoy!

Waterpark ruined by requiring you step on scale My family and I stayed for one night at the resort. My teenage daughter and son were so excited for the waterpark the day we checked in. My husband and I grabbed a drink and sat at a table while they headed up for their first waterslide only to quickly return down the stairs. My daughter with tears in her eyes informed me that they wanted her to step on a scale before getting on the waterslide. We quickly found out that almost all of the slides had this procedure in place that you had to be weighed by the attendant before being allowed to ride the slide. For a teenage girl this was detrimental and the end of our time in the waterpark. I am upset that this information is not disclosed anywhere inside the park or on the website! I would have never booked a stay here had I known this information beforehand! So I am sharing with others as a warning if this type of procedure would affect your time! We tried to make the most of the day spending time in the arcade and other activities, however they were very short staffed with employees running from one activity to another to try and meet the demand. The room was clean and comfortable, but the let down of the waterpark embarrassing my daughter ruined our time there. We came to specifically enjoy the waterpark so it was a big waste.

Not romantic in the least… Stayed one night; looked comfortable online, and we thought the indoor waterpark would be fun for an afternoon. Lots and lots of screaming kids, so if that’s your thing, this is the place. The room was clean, but the bed was unexpectedly uncomfortable… Terrible night sleep. Wouldn’t be back

So much fun, there really is something for everyone We loved our stay! Everything at the Waterpark and our room was extremely clean. We cant wait to go again. It was so much fun, they have something for literally everyone. And the lifeguards were all on point! Very impressed. We worried staying at stone hill we would miss out but you don't. The shuttles run constantly. And we had salamander springs up there if you didnt want to go down to the main area. Only complaint was pricing for food and drinks. We paid $9.50 for two bottles of soda for example. I get its convenience but that's alot.
