Hotel At a Glance: Woodstock Inn Station & Brewery
Once upon a time (actually, 1982), the Woodstock Inn Station & Brewery was just a 100-year-old deserted house on Main Street in North Woodstock. It was sold to owners who planned to turn it into a small inn, with four guest rooms. Fast-forward 30 years, and the Woodstock Inn Station & Brewery is like a mini-neighborhood set in the White Mountains, comprising five adjacent buildings, including an onsite brewery and an onsite restaurant. Having recently undergone a $3 million renovation, this inn is a rustically upscale place for a mountain vacation in a small town, close to skiing and other outdoor activities.
- Raise a pint: of house-brewed, award-winning suds at the Woodstock Inn Brewery, then take an included tour of the two onsite breweries
- Fork up: comforting, hearty fare at one of the three onsite pubs, which serve up menu items such as rainbow trout and St. Louis-style smoked ribs
- Unique rooms: are all decorated differently—some feature rustic chic, with pine furnishings and quilts, and some are romantic, with floral decor.
- Live music: at the Woodstock Station, a repurposed train station brought over from the nearby town of Lincoln, incluse open mic and karaoke nights, as well as scheduled entertainment on weekend nights
- Hang out: across the street at Cascade Park, where you can dive into a swimming hole in the Pemigewasset River.
North Woodstock, NH: Small Town Charms and Abundant Hiking
If you’re looking for a place to slow down a bit, there’s nowhere better than North Woodstock. This little town (population 528!) in the White Mountains features a quaint Main Street lined with a few shops, bars, and breweries, and that’s about it. But that’s a good thing for anyone visiting here—you’ll find yourself close to the great outdoors and multiple ski resorts, such as Loon Mountain and Cannon Mountain. You’ll be just a few minutes away from the gorgeous trails of Franconia Notch State Park, where you can hike renowned Flume Gorge, passing by waterfalls, or head a ways along the Appalachian Trail. If you’re still suffering from a tree-shortage, good news—the White Mountain National Forest is nearby, with 750,852 of preserved wilderness to explore.
