Tucson, Arizona: Southwestern History and Culture amid the Cacti

Over Tucson's long history, it's absorbed elements from the many peoples who have lived or passed through here: Native Americans, Europeans, Latinos, and Asians to name a few. Today, this unique blend is especially evident in the downtown restaurant scene, where you can get authentic chilies rellenos, sushi, and upscale bistro food with fine wines from nearby vintners.

Visitors can soak up the area's gorgeous natural landscape at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, a combined botanical garden and zoo. Here, gila monsters and more than 1,200 kinds of plants inhabit 21 acres of desert scenery. Among Tucson's manmade wonders is Mission San Xavier del Bac, a white adobe church whose interior is adorned with frescoes and sculptures. It was built in the 1700s and is one of the oldest intact European structures in Arizona.

Anniversary This was to celebrate our anniversary in Tucson. We had been to Tucson, but not really had spent any time there

Beautiful Location But Not in Tucson We booked a 2 bedroom and stayed in room 116. The kitchen had everything we needed for the week long stay. Loved the view of the surrounding mountains from our back patio and enjoyed having our own BBQ. The location is beautiful and there is the Preserve Vistoso trails practically right out back. We saw deer, a bobcat, quail, javelina, and jack rabbits on our hikes. That said, my daughter lives in the heart of Tucson and it took us 30-45 minutes to travel to her. The desert museum was a 35 minute drive and the airport was a 40 minute drive. So keep that in mind if booking this location. It was near grocery shopping and restaurants - just the Oro Valley grocery stores and restaurants - not the Tucson ones.

Quiet good timeshare in middle of housing development I did not expect this timeshare resort to be in the middle of a very large housing development. We booked this property as it was one of the nearest to the pinal air park. It was actually quite easy to find despite being in a sea of similar looking houses. The reception staff were helpful on check in. We were advised that the allocated apartment would not be ready till 4pm (or we could opt for a second floor apartment immediately) so we followed their instructions to the local Safeway for groceries. The resort supplies a very handy map with restaurants, grocery stores etc marked. Our ground floor apartment (116) was located in a corner by the road. 2 bedrooms (1 double 1 twin), 2 bathrooms, well appointed kitchen, lounge area with large tv etc. there is also a Murphy bed located between lounge and dining area. This means the apartment can sleep 6. There were a few niggles, but nothing serious. The air con unit outside the twin bedroom was very noisy. There was no full length mirror at all. If you are looking for an alternative to a standard hotel, you cannot go wrong with this resort

Great Place We enjoy the resort for relaxing and getting away. It's peaceful and we love the mountains. The location is good for getting to local businesses.
