A LONG TIME FAVORITE HOTEL OF MINE I have stayed at this hotel many times during the past 40 years, way before it was a Wyndham property (previously HI ) and when it was a layover hotel for the airline I flew for. The reason I continue to choose this hotel is consistency, location, scheduled airport shuttle and room rates. Wyndham Bayside offers above average rooms, conveniently located to the Harbor Area, and at a price that is below or very competitive with surrounding hotels.
The Wyndham also has a very nice gift store located adjacent to the lobby. It is open late and stocks many gift items PLUS all the essentials like snacks, deserts and drinks and personal items.
I recently had to cancel a trip and hotel stay at the Wyndham due to the Tsunami Warning issued by the NWS for San Diego area. It was past the free cancellation deadline, BUT the hotel local reservations and General Manager worked with me and waived the cancellation fee due to the tsunami warning (which fortunately for the area was a non event.) I will add that the Wyndham Corporate Reservations (877-999-3223) were courteous but of NO help. It was the San Diego hotel staff that helped me after they arrived during business hours.
The Wyndham website lists the nightly rate as "fees included." That's not really true since they do add a "resort fee" of $25 to the room rate. Not sure the "resort fee" is really warranted as it's not a "resort" in the typical fashion. Seems to me that a Wyndham Rewards member wouldn't be charged this "resort" fee. But I won't complain because it does offer the SCHEDULED airport service which to me is worth the extra charge. However, there is a bicycle rental company about 100 meters to the south of the hotel and a nice deli next to it. If fine dining is your choice Ruth's Chris is next door.
BTW, if you would like a nice view of the bay and surrounding harbor area, take the glass elevator to the right of the lobby and ride it to the top floor.

Would not recommend We appreciated the shuttle to Comic-Con, the lovely view, and the quiet hours.
But, there was a horrible odor coming from the sink, the shower had mold in multiple places, and the bathroom door did not close completely.
The Claim Jumper restaurant was convenient and food was good, but they were very understaffed and service was slow.
The whole hotel (including restaurant)is in desperate need of an update. Everything is shabby and worn.

Great staff Very helpful staff
Including Ryan B front desk and Donald were awesome! They made sure I was aware of where my room was; also helped me and my family find good food options. Donald was so conscious of the needs of me and my family's safety and comfort. Ryan fixed my room when the patio door didn't open.

Wyndham team member Ryan Ochs made my reservation very easy! My husband and I are planning a return trip to San Diego. We stayed at the San Diego Wyndham Bayside for 5 nights in February 2025 with 4 other couples. We enjoyed our stay so much, my husband and I are returning to the Wyndham in September. When I called to make my reservation, Ryan Ochs took care of me. He was very professional, nice and courteous! It was a very easy and pleasant experience with Ryan! Wyndham is lucky to have him on their team!
