It was absolutely beautiful and amazing! My expectations were low after reading some of the reviews, so I was so pleasantly surprised. I think that some of the negative reviews must be from people who expect this to be some sort of "new hotel" kind of experience. The home is very unique but it is an older home so you have to expect some of the quirky things that come along with that.

Inn at a Glance: Calumet & Arizona Guest House

Located in Bisbee’s turn-of-the-century Warren district, the Calumet & Arizona Guest House is part of the town’s mining history. The mansion was built for an employee of the Calumet and Arizona Mining Company in 1906 and later became a guesthouse owned by the company. The home maintains its mission-revival architecture today, albeit with modern updates inside and pink and blue trim on its stucco façade.

  • Free breakfast brings options such as crepes and quiche.
  • Guest rooms are individually decorated with antiques and have a private bath. Any adjoining rooms will be locked.
  • Pets welcome: Guests should contact the inn for details.
  • Picturesque gardens with desert plants and a koi pond fill the backyard.
  • The Muheim Heritage House is a hidden treasure museum that must be seen.

Bisbee, Arizona: Preserved Wild West Town with Artistic Flair

Bisbee, with a current population around 5,000, is a mining boomtown tucked away in the Mule Mountains, Bisbee swelled in size with the discovery of copper around the turn of the 20th century. To survive after the large-scale mines closed in the 1970s, the town evolved into an artists’ colony, attracting free spirits with its warm temperatures and scenic mountain backdrops. In recent years, it’s become a hybrid of old and new, where 19th-century storefronts and Victorian homes house contemporary art galleries, antique shops, and cafés.

Take a stroll along the narrow, winding streets of Old Bisbee, which resembles a frontier outpost crossed with a European village. Stop in and explore the exhibits at the Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum, once the headquarters of the Copper Queen mining company and now an affiliate museum of the Smithsonian Institution. And no trip to Bisbee would be complete without a visit to the mine that started it all. Head over to Queen Mine Tours to don a hardhat and ride a train more than 1,500 feet underground on a tour guided by retired miners.
