Romantic Inn on a Lake amid Gardens and Mountain Views
Perched on the ridge of Tenney Mountain, strewn with colorful wildflowers and overlooking New Hampshire's Newfound Lake, Coppertoppe Inn and Retreat Center offers an idyllic setting for a romantic getaway for two or a family vacation with the dog. The bed and breakfast's grounds boast two frog ponds and picturesque arbors inviting walks along tree-lined roads. You can also walk or drive to Newfound Lake to hike or rent a canoe or kayak. Back at the inn, you can take part in cooking and gardening classes, crafts, and musical instruments.
The elegant guest rooms and suites feature mahogany floors, lots of sunlight, and views of Newfound Lake and the surrounding mountains. You can snuggle on a king-size bed topped with down pillows or, if you have allergies, reserve hypoallergenic bedding from the inn’s “pillow library.”
As part of the deal, you get the choice of a sweet or savory treat package. Each includes drinks—choose from a bottle of local wine, a six-pack of beer (local selections available), or nonalcoholic beverages. For the sweet package, you’ll get a large plate of fruit and local artisan fudge. You also have the option of a fruit, cheese, and crackers plate; chips with cheese and hummus or salsa; or an antipasto platter. If you prefer another snack assortment, the inn is happy to accommodate; you can enjoy it in your room or in the dining room.
In the morning, pre-ordered custom-made breakfasts may include baked oatmeal, pancakes, french toast, or vegan goods. If you have a special dietary restriction or request, the innkeepers will go out of their way to accommodate it. Coppertoppe participates in a CSA farm share and is proud to provide meats, eggs, and produce from locally provided sources, as well as herbs from its own garden.
Hebron, New Hampshire: Lakeside Town with Boating and Fishing near the White Mountains
Hebron is located in the Lakes Region of central New Hampshire. The historic village sits at the north end of Newfound Lake, which is billed as one of the cleanest lakes in the world. Its crystal-clear, spring-fed waters hug 22 miles of shoreline and are ideal for boating, fishing, and water-skiing. Six miles from Coppertoppe on the western shore, Wellington State Park offers a 200-acre freshwater swimming beach and a motorboat launch area.
Thanks to its location in the foothills of the White Mountains, Hebron also gives guests access to some of the best hiking opportunities in New England. White Mountain National Forest—located 13 miles from Coppertoppe—contains 4,000-foot cliffs and more than 50 miles of the meandering Appalachian Trail.
