Q:

What would the upgrade charge be for our family of 2 adults and 3 children (ages 5,8 and 10) for the 4 day or the 7 day reservations? What accommodations would you recommend for our family? Do you have availability between Feb 16-24?

Bart N.  asked on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

You could squeeze into a Garden Vista Room or you could upgrade to our Family Cabana. We do have availability at that time. To remain in the Garden Vista Room, would cost an additional $561 for 4 nights or $849 for 7 nights. To upgrade to a Family Cabana would add an additional $490.

Q:

Is there availability at the hotel for a stay from 12/26-12/30? and what would the price be? Also, what airport should we fly into?

Lisanne C.  asked on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

Yes, we do have availability at that time. Above the cost of the Groupon, there is a $300 holiday surcharge. Your international flight is into Belize International Airport in Belize City (BZE). From there you can rent a car, take the bus, or take a local flight into Punta Gorda. We can arrange the Punta Gorda flight for you if you like.

Q:

where do we get our meals beyond breakfast? Are local restaraunts good? What is the food? Cathy

Cathy B.  asked on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

You can dine with us for lunch and dinner or can go into Punta Gorda for meals if you have a car. There are a dozen good places to eat there with cuisine options of Mexican, Creole, East indian, Chinese as well as more typical western foods like you'd find in the US .

Jeffrey P.  from  Merchant  replied on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

WE offer an all inclusive upgrgade when you book your stay. The lodge has a kitchen and we do lunch and dinner there. You may purchase these meals al a carte but the upgrade includes all meals and additional offsite tours for two people. We are not located near any other restaurants. The food is a mixture of local dishes such as: Stewed chicken, rice and beans, fish, curry, etc... all dinners are a four course soup, salad, meal, and dessert.

Q:

Your website says the all-inclusive rate includes "daily guided off-site tour options." Are all-inclusive guests able to choose from all of the tours you are offering during their stay (assuming they are not full), or is there an extra charge for some tours? Do you recommend booking tours in advance of the trip, or after arrival at your lodge?

Lisa B.  asked on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

Guests who choose our all inclusive option can participate in whatever tour options we offer on a particular day. All land based tours are included as part of the all inclusive. Boat based tours are not included. In general, we cycle through all of our tours within a week and typically offer two or three different options each day with our more popular tours taking place 2 to 3 times per week. We offer a tour option for each 6-8 guests interested in going on a tour. For example, if we had 20 guests interested in going on a tour, we would set up 3 different tours for that day. We base the tour offerings on guests stated interests and also check in with guests at dinner the night before. If you have particular tours you are interested in, please let us know ahead of time and we'll make a note in your reservation to try to schedule that tour while you are staying with us. It usually works out great. You can also let our guest services manager know your interests at check in. There is no need to book tours in advance with the exception of boat based tours.

A:

All inclusive guests are able to choose from any of these tours: http://www.cottontreelodge.com/belize-tours/belize-tours-overview.htm The tours that are considered an additional fee are things like snorkeling and fishing tours. You will book all of your activities while at the lodge unless you would like to snorkel or fish, we need to arrange for those things in advance.

Q:

If just one person wanted to come, would the price be any cheaper, or could it include additional meals? I realize the price quoted is for 2 people, but I may just be able to arrange for myself to come! Thanks...Becky

Becky S.  asked on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

You'll be able to use this Groupon for a single occupancy, though this will not affect the Groupon price.

Amy S.  from  Self  replied on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

Sorry Becky, the package is already severely discounted and we're not offering any price breaks or additional inclusions for a solo traveller.

Q:

If I am interested in upgrading to the all inclusive package with the Groupon purchase, how would it be accomplished? Would we purchase the Groupon first and then contact the resort for the upgrade price? What would the all inclusive price upgrade be? I noticed the $1,100 price above, is that in addition to the Groupon price or the total to include the Groupon price?

Lori E.  asked on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

Hi Lori, Yes, the $1,100 is to upgrade to all inclusive for 7 nights. You would purchase the Groupon for $699 then pay us $1,100 to upgrade when we confirm your dates. You may not need tours every day and that is the bulk of the upgrade price. If you like, you can add tours on a few days and stay around the lodge on a few days.

Q:

WHat package would you suggest If I am planning to travel alone with two boys 8 and 10?

Jeremie b.  asked on  Nov 28, 2012

A:

Hi Jeremie, Either the 4 or the 7 night package would be suitable. Some people like to travel to more than one destination in a country and others like to settle in and explore the area in more detail. I personally like to settle in so for me it would be the 7 night package. You should be fine in the Garden Vista Room and we can put a set of bunkbeds in the room for the boys. We've got a great rope swing in the river and a floating dock that makes it fun for kids. There are great caves, waterfalls, and lots of exploring possibilities on our property ( medicinal plant walk, organic garden, chickens, goats, horses, etc.). They'll have a blast!
