High-Rise Hotel near The Alamo and San Antonio's Popular Attractions

The San Antonio Riverwalk is one of the most popular attractions in Texas. Its winding stone pathways are lined with trendy restaurants and bars and connect to many of the city's storied sites. The Crowne Plaza San Antonio Riverwalk, a AAA Four diamond hotel, enjoys direct access to the waterfront attraction; the hotel's also within walking distance of The Alamo and HemisFair Park.

Upon arrival, you'll be greeted with two welcome drinks. And if the sun is out—and it usually is—it's worth it to head up to the roof and take a plunge in the outdoor pool. It's situated 22 stories high, and from the swimming deck you can get dazzling views of the city skyline.

Meanwhile, the hotel's guest rooms help you stay connected to the outside world thanks to complimentary WiFi, satellite TV, and a tin-can telephone connected to a local anchorman. Downstairs in the lobby, the 111 Bar & Grille serves South Texas cuisine with Mexican influences during breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

San Antonio: Historic Missions near Banks of Winding River

The Alamo ranks as the most-visited tourist site in the state of Texas. It's the site of a pivotal battle in 1836 as Texas was fighting for its independence, and has since become a state symbol. The site has a shrine that commemorates its 300-year history, and at the museum, you'll find exhibits with Davy Crockett's buckskin vest and a flintlock rifle.

The Alamo is one of five Spanish missions around the San Antonio River. At Mission San José, the largest of the missions, guests can get a glimpse of its famed Rose Window, which is once again on display following an extensive renovation.

Linking the metropolitan area and the historical Spanish outpost is the San Antonio Riverwalk. It's a leafy walkway located below street level, and it follows the winding San Antonio River. Each twist reveals little surprises, such as intriguing landscaping and public art. Casual restaurants are situated at the water's edge, and you can stop at them to sip margaritas and dine on Tex-Mex cuisine. For the best view of the riverbank, take one of the popular boat tours; they follow 2.5 miles of the river and its network of canals.

I had a prepaid coupon and reservation. I tried to check in on Sunday but due to my forgetfulness I didn't have my voucher. I tried for about an hour but could not contact the coupon company or find a copy off the internet. I didn't use the coupon but your very friendly front desk staff allow me a room at the discounted price. I still have the coupon that never expires. If you ever have this promotion I'm in hopes I can stay with you again. The voucher is for two nights at $109.

Great hotel but I was surprised that a four star hotel did not have a microwave and fridge. I thought they all did

Although the hotel is nice and the location "relatively close to the river walk, It is not actually that close to the areas of the river walk that have all the attractions and restaurants. It's quite a walk to and from the main action areas. But I guess that's okay if you;re looking for a little exercise.
