Actors and models are cherished for their ability to connect to human emotion, to speak subtly with their eyes, and to demonstrate how to slowly walk away from a pile of exploding teddy bears. Join the ranks of the performing and pyrotechnic artists with today's Groupon: for $50, you get one acting or modeling class from Laura Model & Talent Agency and GA Digital Photos (a $250 value). With today's Groupon, you get your choice of one of the following three-hour workshops:
- An acting workshop with resume guidelines and a professional headshot
- A model-makeover workshop with runway techniques
- A photo-movement workshop with a professional photo shoot
- A toddler to preteen workshop
With 28 years of industry experience, Laura Dagon, the founder and director of Laura Model & Talent Agency (LMTA), refines and educates performing-arts entrants. Through a partnership with GA Digital Photos, each workshop ($250) includes a digital headshot (one high-resolution, one web-resolution) and a professional resume template to help participants list their circus talents in order of importance. Deepen your knowledge of the actor's process through LMTA's acting workshop, and ascertain the basics of auditioning, cold reading, body movement, and entourage-selection skills. Or, discover how to successfully catwalk during a three-hour model-makeover workshop, and learn fashion trends, posing, choreography, and makeup application.
Immerse eyelids in an apertured afternoon of photo-movement education, and determine proper body movements for photo shoots and catalog poses. Shutter-bugged students will learn how to "pause, not pose," how to smile with their eyes, and how to wink with their elbows. LMTA also caters to child performers through its toddler to preteen workshop, teaching such things as good manners, proper posture, and elegant runway struts. Both the photo-movement and toddler classes include a photo shoot and production of two poses—a headshot and a full-length image to adorn comp cards and bare fireplace mantels.
Workshops are available in the afternoon the last Saturdays of May, June, July, and August. Call ahead to make a reservation, as classes are subject to availability. Workshops are subject to demand; more will be added as needed.
