This 7-day tour of Costa Rica begins in the capital city of San José, swings through Tortuguero National Park in the northeast, and ends with a visit to the iconic Arenal Volcano. See the full itinerary here. All trips include:

Day 1: San José
Once you arrive at Juan Santamaría Airport in Costa Rica, a guide will pick you up and take you to your hotel. You'll have the rest of the day to explore Costa Rica's capital and largest city.
- Take a walking tour through Barrio Amón, one of San José’s oldest neighborhoods, to soak up the colonial architecture and sample tamales, pupusas (stuffed flatbread), and other street food.
- Precious gems: The Jade Museum showcases pendants and carvings made from jade, one of the most valuable commodities in the pre-Columbian cultures of Mexico and South America.

Days 2–3: Tortuguero
On Day 2, the group heads to Tortuguero National Park in northeast Costa Rica. You'll enter the park by boat through its famous canals, which comprise freshwater creeks and lagoons.
- Take a guided hike on private trails that weave through a botanical garden and into the jungle, then hop on the boat to tour the rest of the park.
- Shell spotting: Turtuguero translates to "land of turtles." Not surprisingly, the park is home to several turtle species, including green sea turtles, which once neared extinction but have made a comeback in recent years.

Days 4–7: La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano
On Day 4, the tour heads to La Fortuna, a town best known for its location just west of Arenal Volcano. The town got its name in 1968 when the volcano erupted, destroying everything immediately to the east but leaving La Fortuna—"the fortunate"—intact. Arenal is dormant now, but the surrounding region retains its allure, with hiking trails, fertile rain forests, and a lake that's perfect for watersports.
- Explore the canopy during a ziplining adventure that takes you high above the trees.
- Arenal Volcano & Natural History Walk: Take a guided walk through the 29,000-acre Arenal Volcano National Park, where you'll see lava-rock fields and catch the sunset.

Will I be approached to attend a timeshare sales presentation?
Timeshares are common in Costa Rica and so are the sales pitches that accompany them. You may be asked at hotel check-in if you are interested in attending a sales presentation.
