Huge Indoor Waterpark Alongside Lake Superior
The Tiki Thriller waterslide towers four-and-a-half stories above The Edge Waterpark. Down below, a slew of attractions fill the 30,000-square-foot facility, including a tube slide that launches riders two at a time and a spinning cyclone of water known as The Vortex. Adults can take it easy on the 400-foot lazy river, winding through the park at a leisurely pace. And kids will flock to the Paradise Playground once they spy the 300-gallon bucket that tips over every few minutes. There’s something for every member of the family at the Edgewater Resort and Waterpark.
The resort’s hotel features spacious guest rooms, an exercise facility, and a heated outdoor pool and hot tub in case the waterpark doesn’t meet all your aquatic needs. Tiki Tom’s Oasis & Grill serves made-to-order pizzas and wings, as well as burgers, nachos, and salads.
You can unwind at the Sunrise Lounge, which offers a full bar and views of Lake Superior and the scenic Aerial Lift Bridge. The Edgewater Arcade, meanwhile, has a free mini-golf course and more than 40 games.
Duluth, Minnesota: Scenic Seaport Town on Lake Superior
Set alongside the largest freshwater lake in the world, Duluth has long served as an important Great Lakes seaport. It remains a major hub for ships transporting coal, iron, and grain across Lake Superior. The striking Aerial Life Bridge stands as the city’s most notable landmark.
Located on the waterfront, Duluth’s Great Lakes Aquarium houses animals from all over the Great Lakes Basin as well as transplants from the Amazon River. Check out the Masters of Disguise exhibit to see panther chameleons, dwarf cuttlefish, moon jellyfish, and identity-theft hermit crabs. For a night on the town, consider a visit to Canal Park, a former warehouse district where the buildings have been converted into restaurants, cafes, and stores.
