Tour Itinerary at a Glance

During a 7-day or 10-day small-group tour from Encounters Travel, you’ll see ancient Egyptian wonders including the Pyramids of Giza. Both options include premium hotels and guided excursions, as well as free time to go sightseeing on your own.

7-Day Tour
  • Day 1: Board an overnight flight to Egypt.
  • Day 2: Arrive in Cairo. In the evening, opt to take a Nile cruise with dinner or take part in a sound and light show at the pyramids (to be booked locally on arrival).
  • Day 3: See a King Tut exhibit, the Pyramids of Giza, and the Sphinx before boarding an overnight sleeper train to Luxor (flight and hotel upgrade available).
  • Day 4: Visit the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs were buried, plus many other sites on the west bank of the Nile. Visit Luxor Temple in the evening.
  • Day 5: Tour the ancient Karnak Temple Complex, then take an overnight sleeper train to Cairo (flight and hotel upgrade available).
  • Day 6: Walk through Cairo’s bazaars and visit a local Sufi dancing and music event.
  • Day 7: Spend free time in Cairo before flying home.
10-Day Tour
  • Days 1 and 2: Same as 7-day tour
  • Day 3: See a King Tut exhibit, the Pyramids of Giza, and the Sphinx before boarding an overnight sleeper train to Aswan (flight and hotel upgrade available).
  • Day 4: Visit a Nubian village and take lunch with a local family, then take a boat to Philae Temple, dedicated to the Egyptian goddess Isis.
  • Day 5: Take an optional morning tour to see the temples at Abu Simbel. Board an overnight felucca sail on the Nile in the afternoon; sleep on the boat or upgrade to another night in the Aswan hotel.
  • Day 6: Tour the Edfu, Karnak, and Luxor Temples.
  • Day 7: Visit the Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs were buried at Medinat Habu temples, before heading to the Red Sea at Hurghada.
  • Day 8: Use this free day in Hurghada for optional excursions like snorkeling in the Red Sea or relaxing by the pool or on the beach.
  • Day 9: Fly to Cairo, where you’ll walk through bazaars and visit a local Sufi dancing and music event.
