We spent a week at Exuma Palms in February '13. Everything was wonderful. Our 2nd stay was Feb. '14. Management was in transition and only the chef and part manager was there. Breakfast service was rude, lengthy and the food was terrible. The nights that the restaurant was open, Ben, the chef made superb meals. He was is usual cheery, welcoming and helpful self. The rest of the staff was extremely rude and unhelpful. The hotel had been let go and in need of many repairs. At this point its under completely new management and Ben is not there. The restaurant is no longer open. The website is complete false advertising. What was once an idyllic haven is now a complete disappointment. We are all very sad.

Exuma, Bahamas: Snorkeling and Kayaking Among Cays and Coral Reefs

George Town is the capital of Exuma, a district of the Bahamas formed from more than 360 tiny islands. Each shore here seems like the perfect image of a tropical paradise, with bleached-white sand and translucent water. In fact, the seascapes here are so pretty that they served as the filming location for the James Bond movie Thunderball, as well as for much of Pirates of the Caribbean. The Hollywood connection does not end there. Many stars, including Johnny Depp, Tyler Perry, and David Copperfield, own their own islands in the archipelago.

Most of the islands here are cays, which are low-lying landforms along the tops of coral reefs. This kind of aquatic setting makes for the perfect conditions for marine life, which is waiting to be discovered beneath the waves. Charter a snorkeling cruise to hop from one bay to the next, or scuba dive within Exuma Cays Land and Sea Park to spot conch, lobsters, and sea turtles.
