Q:

can we(2) fly out from Rochester,NY . What would the additional fees be ? April departure &return? Adolf

A. D.  asked on  Jan 24, 2013

A:

Flights from other departure cities are based on live airfare availability and pricing can change from one moment to the next. Therefore we are not able to provide an accurate quote before you've made your reservation. When you call to make your reservation, let us know that you'd like to fly from Rochester and we'll check what's available and let you know. If you can find a more affordable flight to Miami on your own, we'll arrange the included flights from Miami for you.

Q:

Hi, 4 questions - For the April tour what will the weather be like there? In there any hidden charges? Is interent service free and if not what is the fee? Is it possible to ask for menues at the hotels? If so who might I contact? Thank you, Bob Daniels

Robert L.  asked on  Jan 23, 2013

A:

1) The average temperature in April is 85, with a high of 92, and a low of 77. The average rainfall for the month is less than 2 inches. 2) There are no hidden charges. The Groupon is valid for 1 person traveling with a roommate. If you do not have a roommate, you will need to add the single supplement of $399. There is a local departure tax of $26, payable when leaving Costa Rica. Optional excursions are purchasable in destination. 3) All hotels offer internet access and public computers. Some hotels charge a small fee, while others are complimentary. 4) You can view all the hotels we use and a description of their restaurant offerings through our website. http://www.friendlyplanet.com/captivating-costa-rica.html?src=GROUPON-CostaRica#tab2 If you have any dietary restrictions you are concerned about, let us know when you make your reservation and we will do our best to ensure the hotels accommodate them.

Q:

What time does the flight leave Miami and arrive in San Jose? If we leave from San Antonio,Texas and fly to San Jose thru Phoenix, approximately how much additional cost for you to arrange that? We would plan to take the May 21 date.

Joel L.  asked on  Jan 23, 2013

A:

The flights we book from Miami are based on live airfare availability, therefore we do not have a set departure time from Miami. If you would like us to arrange your flights from San Antonio, it would not necessarily go through Phoenix. The cost is based on live airfare availability and can vary from one moment to the next. Therefore we are not able to provide an accurate quote before you've made your reservation. When you call to make your reservation, let us know that you'd like to fly from San Antonio and we'll check what's available and let you know. If you can find a more affordable flight to Miami on your own, we'll arrange the included flights from Miami for you.

Q:

can i use sky miles from delta and can we fly out of jacksonville florida?

valerie c.  asked on  Jan 23, 2013

A:

You would not be able to pay the air supplement from Jacksonville with sky miles; but you may be able to earn miles. Earning mileage is always subject to the airline you are flying on, and we are not able to guarantee that you would accrue them. However, as long as your flight is booked in a class of service that is eligible for mileage accrual (based on the flying airline's policy) we can apply your frequent flyer numbers to your reservation and you would receive your miles. It's always best that you check directly with the airline's website for their rules and restrictions.

Q:

How many people (max) are in each group/minivan? Can we be assured of a room that is in a quiet section of each hotel> Kay

Glen C.  asked on  Jan 23, 2013

A:

We generally take 12 to 14 passengers per departure. The mini-vans can hold 6-8 passengers. The hotels we use for this program are usually fairly quiet. We can certainly request the hotel provide you with quieter rooms when you make your reservation.

Q:

I've seen a few users asking about the cost of the Manuel Antonio extension. I did not see any thing about an extension on the deal page. May I get some information about the extension?

Jessi H.  asked on  Jan 23, 2013

A:

Here is a link to the itinerary, the extension information is located below Day 7. The extension adds 3 days to the program and is $459 per person, based on double occupancy. http://www.friendlyplanet.com/captivating-costa-rica.html?src=GROUPON-CostaRica#tab2

Q:

Hi there, My group and I are interested in the June 4 date; however, we'd like more information on the possibility of departing on June 1 instead - pricing, accommodations, etc. Also, we're an odd numbered group. I've read various comments stating that some single passengers are looking for a roommate (they don't mind rooming with a stranger), but I've also read some comments about groups of three rooming together. I'm a bit confused. Is it possible to travel on this trip as a group of three without having the third person pay the solo-traveler fee? I'd also like more information on the excursions available on this trip, specifically zip-lining. I tried clicking on the link you provided in previous posts but it didn't seem to work. Thank you!

Nathalie B.  asked on  Jan 23, 2013

A:

1) You can certainly arrive early! The cost is $100 per person plus any difference in airfare. When you make your reservation let us know the date you wish to come back, and our air department will check the availability and let you know what the additional cost will be. We will also check with the hotel for current availability for the dates you would need. The airport transfers would still be included. 2) We can accommodate triple room occupancy on this tour. Each person in a triple room pays the double occupancy rate. 3) Here is the link to our website, there are working links for the optional excursions list on Day 3 and Day 5. http://www.friendlyplanet.com/captivating-costa-rica.html?src=GROUPON-CostaRica#tab2. Zip-lining is available in Monteverde as part of the Selvatura Canopy Tour. The average cost is $45 per person.

Q:

I JUST WANT TO ASK A COUPLE OF QUESTIONS AND CONFIRM A FEW THINGS . 1) DOES THE QUOTED SALE PRICE INCLUDE THE TWO AIR FARES AND ONE ROOM FOR TWO PEOPLE TO SHARE AS IT IMPLIES ? 2) SINCE I AM OXYGEN DEPENDANT IS IT POSSIBLE TO BUY THIS DEAL AND USE IT TO STAY IN ONE HOTEL FOR THE ENTIRE STAY INSTEAD OF MOVING FROM HOTEL TO HOTEL? WE HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED LOCAL OXYGEN SUPPLIERS AND HAVE MADE SURE OXYGEN WAS AVAILABLE FOR MY TRIP TO COSTA RICA FROM LOCAL HOME OXYGEN SUPPLIERS WHO WOULD BRING THE OXYGEN SUPPLIES TO OUR ROOM . 2) IS THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY PLUS RECEPTICALS AND VOLTAGES WORK THE SAME AS U S DO FOR PLUG IN APPLIANCES LIKE RADIOS ETC? ? CAN WE USE THE SAME PLUGS FOR HAIR DRYERS ETC ? MAYNARD SMITH SEMINOLE FLORIDA

MAYNARD S.  asked on  Jan 23, 2013

A:

1) The quoted prices are per person, based on Double Occupancy. Two people traveling together will need to purchase 2 Groupons. 2) In order to take advantage of this excellent deal, passengers will have to travel with the group from one hotel to the next. We can make arrangements for you to stay in San Jose; additional hotel costs will apply and there will be no credit for the unused portion of this program. 3) The voltage requirements and electrical outlets are the same in Costa Rica as they are in the United States.

Q:

Are we accompanied by tour guides throughout this trip?

Victoria P.  asked on  Jan 22, 2013

A:

No, this is not a guided program. We have arranged for the airfare, hotel stay, and all transportation via, chauffeured, air-conditioned mini-van. You can purchase locally guided tours and excursions though each of the hotels. A helpful list of just some of the many excursions offered may be found at http://www.friendlyplanet.com/downloads/OptionalToursArenal.pdf and http://www.friendlyplanet.com/downloads/OptionalToursMonteverde.pdf.
