Commonly Asked Questions

Q:

-Is it allowed to stay longer at Japan giving me the chance to return to US in my own schedule after the tour is completed? -Can the return flight location be changed to Seoul, Korea after the Japan tour?

Myong G.  asked on  Apr 9, 2013

A:

Hi Myong, if you would like a Late Return, it would be from Tokyo, and would result in a $100 Late Return fee, plus any difference in fare, should it apply. Please request your ideal return date at the time of booking, and our air department will research this and get back to you with pricing and availability.

More Questions and Answers

Q:

I would like to make the trip on the 10/10 but I'm not sure who can go with me yet, do I have to give both passenger's name when I purchase the offer? or can I change it later? Also, if nobody is able to come with me, how does the "look for a roommate" works? Thanks

Romina  asked on  Apr 20, 2013

A:

Hi Romina, if you do not have a name of a roommate at the time of booking, you would add a single supplement of $499 at the time of booking. You would then, at the time of booking, sign up for roommate finder, giving us a few details about yourself, and you would be put in contact with other potential roommates. Once you correspond with them, and decide upon a roommate, just send us an email, and we will refund to you the single supplement. In the event a roommate does not materialize, you could then travel on your own, and the single supplement would stay intact.

Q:

Hi, can you please confirm whether the flight out of SFO will be a non-stop flight to Beijing, or does it connect in LAX anyway? Also, since China Airlines is a Star Alliance company, can I use my miles to upgrade?

R G.  asked on  Apr 18, 2013

A:

Hi R.J. The flights from SFO are non-stop and do not connect in LAX. You will of course make one stop in Beijing on the way home, regardless of which airport you select. You cannot use mileage for upgrade with this airfare.

Q:

Hello What are the Insurance fees that are mentioned in the "fine Print" that are not included in the bundle. And How much is the total insurance and gratuities fees we should expect to pay. Once we select the option of which days we fly out does that mean our trip is booked or is there additional booking that we must do.

Ismael R.  asked on  Apr 18, 2013

A:

Hi Ismael, there is no insurance included with the package, but you can purchase it separately with us at the time of redemption. Take a look at the Friendly Planet website for the details about our insurance policies. Pricing and coverage details are listed under the "Help and FAQ's" section. You will need to call Friendly Planet to redeem your voucher as soon as you purchase the Groupon. This is when everything is officially reserved.

Q:

Hi, I saw your answer to the "up grade to business class question but wondered if , since China Air is a Sky Team partner with Delta and we have a ton of Delta miles, could we use Delta miles to upgrade to business? Also, would we earn Delta miles? Thanks, Robert

ROBERT H.  asked on  Apr 18, 2013

A:

Hi Robert, China Air is a Star Alliance member, so you will not be able to apply your Delta FF# to these flights. Actually, with how deeply discounted these rates are, we are not in a position to offer any upgrade with mileage with Frequent Flyer numbers.

Q:

I am interested in the China - Japan trip. A friend from Japan may join me. If I buy plane tickets for her, reserve rooms for her in the same hotels and pay for her trips or dinners in addition to mine, can she travel with the group?

Pranab B.  asked on  Apr 15, 2013

A:

Hi Pranab, unfortunately this program cannot be purchased Land Only, we cannot take off the airfare to give a reduced rate. She can purchase a Groupon and travel with us, but there will be no credit for unused services.

Q:

Hi, we'd be coming from Seattle to catch our LAX flight. Where can I get the exact departures times so I can synchronize my Seattle-LAX roundtrip accordingly (I don;t want to have to come one day earlier and stay in LAX in order to optimize paid time off and expenses). Thanks

Jean-Paul G.  asked on  Apr 13, 2013

A:

Hi Jean-Paul, the flight schedules are listed on our website under the description of the program. We kindly request all domestic flights not be booked until 75 days prior to departure, in the unlikely event something changes.

Q:

Hello, I have a friend who wants to go in the same date of the trip with me, but not the same room. Is the solo traveler option the way we have to book? In the other hand I am permanent resident of USA, but my citizenship would be expedited in September. Do I have to request visa as resident or citizen in the case I could travel with my US passport in the date I want?

Adrian F.  asked on  Apr 14, 2013

A:

Hi Adrian, in the event you both want separate rooms, you would each need to pay a single supplement of $499. This would be paid to Friendly Planet, and you would purchase the Groupon as normal. Regarding your visa situation, you would need to ensure the information given to us at the time of booking is as it will appear on the passport you plan to travel with. Should you travel with a non-US passport, you will need to check with the Chinese and Japanese consulates or embassies to ensure you have the necessary documents to travel.
