You’ll spend the next two days at leisure, discovering for yourself why Shanghai is known as the “Paris of the East.”

Optional tours:

 • Day 2: An acrobatic show and dinner ($35 per person)
 • Day 3: A cruise along Suzhou’s scenic canals ($85 per person, includes lunch)
 • Day 4: Shanghai escorted city tour, which highlights The Bund architectural district and the Shanghai Museum ($60 per person; lunch included)

Days 5–9: Beijing and Great Wall

After a morning flight to Beijing, you’ll visit Tiananmen Square, one of the world’s largest city squares, and catch a glimpse of the enormous Forbidden City. In addition to two days of leisure time, this part of the trip includes a tour of the Great Wall of China. Stretching across thousands of miles, the wall is made up of many separate sections extending through mountains as well as desert regions.

Optional tours:

 • Day 5: Peking duck dinner, accompanied by a Kung Fu performance depicting Chinese history ($53 per person).
 • Day 6: After the Great Wall tour on Day 6, enjoy an optional dinner and Chinese foot massage ($45 per person).
 • Day 7: Beijing Forbidden City and Gaobeidian Village with lunch & dinner ($65 per person).
 • Day 8: Tai Chi lesson, the Temple of Heaven, the Summer Palace and its classical gardens, a local panda zoo, and lunch ($70 per person).
 • Day 8: Enjoy a traditional Mongolian hot pot dinner and a visit to the Peking Opera ($53 per person)

Days 9–12: Optional Hong Kong Extension (extra fee)

For an additional fee, you can stick around in China to explore Hong Kong, which Frommer’s likens to a movie set for its sweeping mountain views and glitzy skyscrapers. You’ll set up shop in the Golden Mile shopping district near the scenic harbor at the 4-Star Park Hotel Hong Kong, where you’ll be staying, and spend the next day touring the city. Highlights include a ride to the summit of Victoria Peak, which Time named the number one thing to do in Hong Kong.

Take an optional dinner cruise to sail through Hong Kong’s bustling harbor or try your luck at one of nearby Macau’s Vegas-style casinos during the final two days of your tour.
