Days 1 and 2: Quito

You’ll arrive in Quito on day 1. The tour begins exploring Ecuador’s diverse landscape on day 2 with a visit to Mindo Cloud Forest and Pululahua Volcano—one of the world’s only known inhabited volcanic craters. Explore a hummingbird sanctuary before overnighting in Quito.

Days 5–7: Amazon Rainforest and Patate

A canoe ride on the Napo River takes you to a lodge deep in the Amazon rainforest. This will serve as your headquarters as you embark on adventures that include a treetop hike across hanging bridges and a short zipline ride. En route to Patate, you’ll watch local artisans at work in the small village of Baños.

  • Ride a wooden balsa raft on the Napo River, a tributary of the Amazon.
  • The Devil’s Cauldron: Tourists climb steep steps for an overhead view of this waterfall, which surges down a rock wall and over boulders that resemble the image of the devil.

Days 8–10: Cotopaxi and Quito

During 1 day in Cotopaxi, you’ll go behind the scenes at a rose plantation and watch as locals use sheepskin to craft drums, masks, and tiny trampolines for ants. Finally, a guided tour of Quito spotlights the city’s centuries-old colonial architecture, including the presidential palace and either the elaborate Church of San Francisco or La Compañia Church. The return flight departs shortly after midnight on Day 10.

  • Independence Plaza: The capital city’s main square hosted bullfights a few centuries ago. It’s now home to historical Moorish-style buildings.
  • Archbishop’s Palace: You can sit in the courtyards of this 16th-century building to dine on local cuisine or hear buskers play traditional music.
