See World-Famous Landmarks and Museums in Paris and London

This vacation takes you to two of Europe’s most iconic cities—Paris and London—where you’ll have 8 days to snap shots of the Eiffel Tower, Buckingham Palace, and other attractions. There’s no set itinerary, so you can explore and take side trips at your own pace. Each option includes:

Paris

Your vacation starts in Paris, one of the world’s most romantic cities. When you’re not viewing masterpieces at the Louvre, mosey over to the Left Bank, where you can pop into the cafés and bookstores once frequented by Hemingway and Picasso.

  • Arts and culture: Housed in an old train station, the Musee d’Orsay is best known for its unparalleled collection of Impressionist works by Claude Monet, Pierre-August Renoir, Édouard Manet, and many other 19th-century artists.
  • Iconic architecture: The Eiffel Tower was dismissed by some critics as a “truly tragic street lamp” when it was built. Millions of annual visitors from all over the world would beg to differ. It’s especially beautiful at night, when it twinkles with 20,000 lights.
  • Eat like a local: Stop at any of the myriad sidewalk pastry vendors to try buttery croissants filled with chocolate, handmade crepes, tarts, and more.

London

A quick flight takes you to the 2,000-year-old city of London, where you’ll have 3 nights to explore such attractions as Westminster Abbey and Big Ben. Get inside the London Eye ferris wheel’s glass pods to see the city and the River Thames from 443 feet up.

  • Arts and culture: The building that houses the Tate Modern was once a power station. Now it contains 20th-century masterpieces by Andy Warhol, Jackson Pollock, and Pablo Picasso.
  • Iconic architecture: Built after the Great Fire of 1666, the 18th-century St. Paul’s Cathedral is Sir Christopher Wren’s best-known work. Frommer’s calls the domed church the “defining landmark of the city skyline.”
  • Out of the ordinary: Pollock’s Toy Museum houses a quirky collection of wax figurines, early teddy bears, puppets, and mechanical toys from the Victorian age.
  • Eat like a local: Sprinkle salt and vinegar on your fish and chips or nosh on traditional bangers and mash dripping with onion gravy. Other traditional British dishes include hearty beef Wellington and steak-and-kidney pie.
  • Grab a pint at a neighborhood pub—London has approximately 7,000 of them.
