Guided Tour of Peru with Airfare

With ancient ruins and colonial cities, Peru’s landscape tells the story of a pre- and post-Columbian South America—a tale stretching back more than 15,000 years. During this 7-day tour, you’ll explore Peru’s rich history via guided city walks and a full-day expedition to Machu Picchu. The trip includes:

  • Round-trip airfare from Miami (MIA)
  • 3 nights of standard accommodations at Jose Antonio Executive Hotel in Lima
  • 2 nights of standard accommodations at Eco Inn Cusco
  • 1 night of standard accommodations at El Mapi Hotel in Aguas Calientes
  • Intracontinental flights
  • Airline taxes and fuel surcharges
  • All airport transfers
  • Hotel porterage
  • Six breakfasts and two dinners
  • Sightseeing per itinerary in modern motor coach
  • Services of English-speaking tour manager and local guides
  • Entrance fees per itinerary

Days 1–2: Lima

On a guided sightseeing tour of Peru’s capital, you’ll see a baroque cathedral that was built in 1564 and now contains the tomb of Spanish conquistador Francisco Pizarro. During your free time, you can explore Lima’s thriving culinary scene.

  • Eat like a local: Sample ceviche at a sidewalk cafe, or sidle up to a bar in Miraflores or Barranco and enjoy a pisco sour, Peru’s national drink, made with lime juice, egg whites, and angostura bitters.
  • Huaca Pucllana: Located in the Miraflores district, this large adobe pyramid was likely built between 200 and 700 AD.

Day 3: Cusco

Nestled in the Andes Mountains, this former Incan capital is now a living museum of Peruvian history, with Incan ruins, Spanish colonial churches, and several art museums. Get lost in winding cobblestone streets and inviting plazas that are tailor-made for people watching.

  • Guided city tour: Stops include the city’s cathedral, which houses a major collection of colonial artwork.
  • Temple of the Sun: Once the most important religious site of the Incas, this temple was, according to legend, at one time covered in gold and filled with priceless statues.
  • Plaza de Armas: Shop for textiles, savor gourmet coffee at a cafe, and take in views of the surrounding neoclassical facades.

Days 4–5: Machu Picchu

On day 4, you’ll explore the “Lost City of the Incas” with a trip to Machu Picchu via railway. Spend the day checking out beautifully preserved ornamental stonework and 50 burial sites. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is believed to be a ceremonial center of some kind, but its exact purpose remains shrouded in mystery. Spend the night in Aguas Calientes before returning to Cusco in the evening on day 5.

  • Impressive architecture: Over 200 buildings cover the wide, rising terraces of Machu Picchu, which were also used as part of a sophisticated channeling and agricultural system.
  • Bricks without mortar: A style of building known as “ashlar”—one of the Incas’ many areas of expertise—was used to build the central structures of the historic site.

Days 6–7: Lima and Departure

Enjoy a farewell dinner in Lima on day 6 before returning to the United States on the morning of day 7.
