The rest of the day is yours—snap pics of a bronze statue of King Philip III in the Plaza Mayor or nosh on calamari sandwiches at one of the many outdoor cafés lining the square. An optional tour ($81/person) brings you to El Escorial, King Phillip II’s monastery, palace, and mausoleum.
