Budapest, Hungary

Budapest, the Hungarian capital, is perched on the ultra-picturesque banks of the storied Danube River. Frommer’s calls the city “architecturally stunning,” lauding the grandeur of the Royal Palace and Gellért thermal baths. Perhaps the best way to experience Budapest is to spend some time strolling the city’s grand boulevards on your own.

  • Heroes Square is a UNESCO World Heritage Site dominated by a 118-foot obelisk that dates back to the late 19th century.
  • Stroll through Memento Park to see statues of Vladmir Lenin and Karl Marx as well as replicas of old military barracks.
  • Eat like a local: Strudels are a staple here. The flaky pastries come filled with cottage cheese, baked apples, or even poppy seeds.

Vienna, Austria

Austria’s capital city helped inspire the artwork of Gustav Klimt and the waltzes of Johann Strauss. You’ll have 3 days here to find your own inspiration amid the city’s over-the-top Hapsburg palaces and excellent museums.

  • Schoenbrunn Palace once served as the summer getaway for Hapsburg royalty. The grounds include labyrinthine gardens, a zoo, and a castle filled with more than 1,000 sumptuously decorated rooms.
  • Vienna State Opera: One of the most important centers for classical music since it was built in 1896, this world-renowned opera house features an auditorium with near-perfect acoustics. Take a guided tour to get the full lowdown.
  • Eat like a local: Try the city’s famous wiener schnitzel (a breaded veal cutlet) and sacher torte (a chocolate cake with apricot filling).

Prague, Czech Republic

Prague’s skyline is punctuated by the many Gothic towers that have earned it the nickname City of 1,000 Spires. After dark, pop into a tavern to sample a pint of the Czech Republic’s famed Pilsner Urquell.

  • Charles Bridge: More than two dozen statues of Czech leaders top the balustrade of this iconic cobblestone bridge spanning the Vltava River.
  • Astronomical Clock: Mounted on the Old Town City Hall, this medieval timepiece features an hourly show starring figures of Jesus and the Apostles.
  • Eat like a local: Warm up with a plate of goulash—a thick stew seasoned with paprika and often accompanied by potatoes.

You can't beat these deals. GO TODAY has the same a trip on their site for way more. I have traveled with GO TODAY bf, purchased on their site. The trip package and experience is exactly the same. The hotel is nice with transportation right outside and the bus ride to the city center is really short. Can't wait to see what other trips I can book with GO TODAY and GROUPON.
