Travel the European Continent in a Whirldwind Tour

Couldn’t backpack Europe or study abroad? Then fulfill your European fantasies with this impressive 17-day trip to six cities in four countries from go-today. Start by steeping yourself in the ancient history of Rome before toasting your travels with a liter of beer in Munich. A stop in The City of Light follows before your trip ends under the watchful eye of Big Ben in London. This vacation includes:

  • 3 nights of accommodations at Hotel Taormina or similar in Rome
  • Second class rail from Rome to Florence
  • 3 nights of accommodations at Hotel Meridiana or similar in Florence
  • Second class rail from Florence to Venice
  • 2 nights of accommodations at Smart Hotel Holiday or similar in Venice
  • Second class rail from Venice to Munich
  • 2 nights of accommodations at Hotel NH München Messe or similar in Munich
  • Second class rail from Munich to Paris
  • 3 nights of accommodations at Comfort Hotel Lamarck Paris 18 or similar in Paris
  • Flight from Paris to London
  • 2 nights of accommodations at My Place Hotel or similar in London
  • Hop-on/hop-off bus tour in each city for $200 per person
  • Bus tour includes: Rome a 48 hour ticket, Florence 48 hour ticket, Venice 48 hour ticket, Munich 48 hour ticket, Paris 48 hour ticket, and London 24 hour ticket

Rome

  • Epic architecture: Visit the majestic Colosseum to see where gladiators once battled lions (and one another) for glory in ancient Rome. Go early to avoid long lines.
  • Sistine Chapel: Gaze up at Michelangelo’s famously intricate ceiling to see one of the all-time greatest hits of the Renaissance.
  • Ecstasy of Saint Teresa: Bernini’s marble stunner is housed in a chapel of the otherwise unremarkable Santa Maria della Vittoria church.

Florence

  • A hop-on, hop-off bus tour is any easy way to reach top attractions, including the Duomo cathedral and Piazzale Michelangelo, arguably the best spot to get a snapshot of the city.
  • Art history lesson: Florence is credited as the birthplace of the Renaissance; it was home to influential artists such as Donatello and Michelangelo as well as wealthy patrons of the arts, including the Medici family.
  • Wine country: Florence’s wine is an art form; stop at a local winery to sip an aromatic chianti, the area’s signature vino.

Venice

  • Live happily ever after: Legend has it that lovers who kiss on a gondola ride below the Bridge of Sighs at sunset will be granted a happy fate.
  • St. Mark’s Square: Stop to feed the many pigeons in Venice’s largest square, also known as Piazza San Marco. Casino Royale and The Italian Job are just a couple of movies that were filmed at this famous spot.
  • Peggy Guggenheim Collection: This modern art museum houses seminal works in Cubism and other styles. Pablo Picasso, Marcel Duchamp, and Max Ernst (to whom Guggenheim was married) are all represented.

Munich

  • Order a liter of beer at the Hofbräuhaus am Platzl, the city’s original beer hall that’s been visited by the likes of Mozart, Duchamp, and Gorbachev.
  • Marienplatz: The city’s main square since the 12th century, a collection of stunning gothic architecture surrounds the plaza with the famous Glockenspiel in the tour of city hall as the main attraction.
  • Neuschwanstein Castle: Just outside Munich you’ll find this 19th-century romanesque castle that served as the inspiration for Sleeping Beauty’s abode in Disneyland.

Paris

  • Stop at a streetside café and people watch over a cup of espresso and a croissant just like the Parisians do.
  • Musée Rodin: Opened in 1919, this gem of a museum has only a fraction of the crowds of the Louvre and is home to more than 6,000 sculptures, including Rodin’s The Thinker.
  • Paris’s creepy side: Underneath the city lies a network of catacombs filled with the bones of more than six million people; tours are available to the public.

London

  • Claim to fame: London is a city quite literally fit for a king. British royalty have made their home here for centuries (including newcomer Prince George). You’ll find majestic castles, palaces, and gardens around almost every turn.
  • Must-see attractions: Tour Westminster Abbey, the site of royal weddings since 1100 AD, and Buckingham Palace. Stick around for the Changing of the Guard ceremony.
  • Eat this: fish and chips, sprinkled with salt and malt vinegar

You can't beat these deals. GO TODAY has the same a trip on their site for way more. I have traveled with GO TODAY bf, purchased on their site. The trip package and experience is exactly the same. The hotel is nice with transportation right outside and the bus ride to the city center is really short. Can't wait to see what other trips I can book with GO TODAY and GROUPON.
