See a Play in England’s Capital City

London’s West End is home to some of the world’s best shows and theaters. See a show in this vibrant theater district during your trip to England’s bustling capital. Since this trip has no itinerary, you can also explore the many museums and palaces here at your leisure. This vacation includes:

  • Round-trip airfare from New York (JFK)
  • 4 nights of standard room accommodations at the Kensington Close Hotel in London
  • Encore Standard Theatre Pass
  • Daily breakfast

London, England

The River Thames bisects 2,000-year-old London, one of the world’s most cosmopolitan destinations. Some of the city’s most famous attractions stand along the riverbanks, among them the Tower of London and the Palace of Westminster, home of Big Ben. Enjoy an afternoon tea service during a tour of the palace’s stately Royal Gallery and Lord’s Chamber. Across the river is the London Eye, where glass-walled pods offer a 360-degree bird’s-eye view of the sprawling city below.

The Encore Standard Theatre Pass entitles you to a midlevel ticket to a play on the West End on the night of your choosing. That means you can see stellar musicals, comedies, or dramas at top-billed theaters such as the Savoy Theatre, Criterion Theatre, Fortune Theatre, and more. The passport must be redeemed through an Encore ticket reception center; check out the Encore website for more information.

  • World-class museums: The British Museum is England’s largest; it’s where you’ll see Egyptian mummies, ancient Etruscan art, and the Rosetta Stone. The National Gallery houses roughly 2,300 European paintings by the likes of Titian, van Gogh, and Michelangelo.
  • Thirsty?: At any time during your travels, you’re likely not far from a pub—London has roughly 7,000 of them. One of the oldest is The Prospect of Whitby, which dates back to 1520. Long before it was frequented by Charles Dickens, the tavern attracted a more colorful crowd: smugglers and pirates.
  • Eat like a local: Dig into pie and mash or savor sticky toffee pudding at a local pub. There are also numerous curry houses that serve up fragrant morsels of Pakistani and Indian fare.
  • Kensington Park Gardens is a rooftop garden with three distinct themes: Spanish garden, Tudor garden, and English Woodland. Enjoy a cocktail at the terrace that sits amid these manicured landscapes.
  • St. Paul’s Cathedral: This 17th-century church is topped with one of the largest domes on Earth and features a Whispering Gallery with impressive acoustics.
  • Accommodations: The downtown Kensington Close Hotel offers stylish rooms, a spa, a restaurant, and afternoon tea service. It’s also within walking distance of the Natural History Museum.

Lovely trip but beware hidden costs. Extra to book direct flights & on dates chosen +$200 pp. Extra for automatic car & extra driver $210. Extra for hotel parking $20. Delta charged $75 per checked bag each way. Overall great hotels, car rental went smoothly. Booked on off season in Oct- rainy but less people. Loved the freedom of getting to choose our itinerary every day.
