1930s Boutique Hotel Offers Quiet Retreat in the Art Deco District
The Art Deco movement swept the Miami Beach scene in the early 1930s. Soon, the waterfront skyline was lined with stylish buildings with stucco façades, all in pastel colors. One of these buildings is the three-star Greenview Hotel, which stands on a corner two blocks from the beach in the heart of the Art Deco District.
Though the Greenview is situated just around the corner from South Beach’s legendary party venues and designer stores, the hotel feels worlds away: it has an outdoor courtyard surrounded by colorful plants and shady trees. The jewel of the Greenview Hotel is its living-room-style lobby, where you can sit down for a complimentary breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. The room features streamlined wraparound couches, a silver chandelier, and a wall of staggered mirrors. Its checkered floor is a nod to the Art Deco movement, too; it’s lined with pink and green sherbet-like colors typical of the era.
