Days 1–3: Delhi and New Delhi
After an overnight flight, you’ll arrive in India’s storied capital city of Delhi, where open-air bazaars sit alongside historic forts and ornate Hindu temples. Ride a rickshaw through one of the most famous markets, Chandni Chowk Bazaar, on day 3 to immerse yourself in the city’s rich culture. Close out the day with a visit to Devi Laxmi Temple to celebrate the goddess of prosperity and wealth, before sitting down to tea with a local businesswoman.
- Jama Masjid: See India’s biggest mosque, which can hold up to 25,000 people at a time. Its grounds are dotted with sandstone mausoleums etched with beautiful Islamic calligraphy.
- Qutab Minar stands at roughly 300 feet, making it one of the country’s tallest spires.
Days 4–5: Agra, Taj Mahal
Emperor Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal—a masterpiece of marble and precious gems—to pay homage to his late wife. You’ll have a chance to behold the palace in person on day 4.
- Agra Fort: On Day 5, you’ll walk beneath gilded marble archways in this double-walled fortress along the Yamuna River.
- Fatehpur Sikri: Carved red sandstone turrets top the temples and palaces at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which served as the Mughal Empire’s capital during the 16th century.
Days 6–9: Jaipur & Jodphur
The next stop is Jaipur, which is nicknamed the Pink City for the rosy tint that the sandstone buildings take on in sunlight. On day 6, you’ll travel to Amber Fort by jeep or on the back of an elephant. Day 8 takes you to Sachiya Mata, a temple devoted to the Hindu water goddess Durga. This leg of the tour comes to a close in Jodphur, where you’ll head to the top of Mehrangahr Fort for exquisite city views.
- Palace of the Winds: Nearly 1,000 windows adorn Hawa Mahal, an intricately designed palace, where royal women could look out onto the street without being seen during the 18th century.
- City Palace Museum contains an impressive collection of ancient weaponry, early Hindu scriptures, and large silver flagons used to transport water from the Ganges.
Days 10–12: Udaipur
Udaipur has been called the “city of sunrise” for the dazzling colors the sun casts on the city at dawn. During your time in Udaipur, you’ll have a chance to see the sunrise as you tour elaborate temples, and stroll through the gardens of Udaipur’s City Palace, home to crystal chandeliers and other priceless 19th-century items.
- Jagdish Temple: Carved stone elephants welcome you as you ascend the steps of this large Hindu temple to view its collection of sculptures and friezes.
- Boat cruise on Lake Pichola: Watch the sunset reflected on Lake Pichola’s placid waters as you sail to the island palace of Jag Mandir.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. How much would it cost to fly from an airport not listed as part of this deal? This deal is available from New York (JFK) and Los Angeles (LAX), but you can book your own connecting flights separately. To inquire about departures from a city not listed, call 1-866-978-2997.
2. Solo vs Single - what’s the difference? Do I have to pay a single supplement? Single supplements are incurred for a hotel room on your own, rather than sharing it (and the expense) with someone else. If you’re happy to share a room with a fellow traveler, Indus Travels offers a free roommate matching service. If they’re unable to find you a roommate, they will cover the cost of the single supplement so you have your own room. 3. Can we extend our trip before or after the promotional dates for the deal? Yes, you may extend your trip for a supplemental fee at the time of booking.
4. How do I find out if the dates I want to travel are available? The dates available are listed in each option.
5. What happens if I buy the Groupon and my travel dates are not available? We suggest calling Indus Travels to redeem your vouchers as soon as possible so that you do not run into this problem. If Indus Travels is unable to book your trip for the available date, Groupon will refund your purchase on request before the book-by-date.
