7-Day Tour of Vietnam

Set out on a 7-day tour of Vietnam that explores the bustling capital city, Hanoi, and historic Ho Chi Minh City, once known as Saigon. An English-speaking tour guide accompanies you as you visit the soaring Gothic Notre Dame Cathedral and other landmarks. During the trip, you’ll have plenty of free time to take part in optional side trips and explore the cities on your own. The tour includes:

  • Round-trip international airfare from Los Angeles to Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City to Los Angeles
  • Domestic flight from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City
  • All taxes and fuel surcharges
  • Round-trip airport transfers in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City

  • 2 nights at Huong Sen Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City

Days 1–4: Hanoi

Your overnight flight crosses the Pacific Ocean and touches down at Hanoi International Airport the following day. After spending the night in a local hotel, you’ll spend the next day touring Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital. Cars, mopeds, and rickshaws all vie for space on the roadways of Hanoi, darting past elaborate structures that date back as far as the 13th century. Your stops include the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, a granite structure dedicated to the former Vietnamese president. On Day 4, you’ll embark on a sightseeing cruise on Halong Bay.

  • Tropical gardens and ornate pagodas adorn the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Complex, where the body of former president Ho Chi Minh lies in state.
  • Temple of Literature: Hanoi’s first university was founded here in the 11th century. Stroll through the courtyards to see a square-shaped pond and a statue of Confucius.
  • St. Joseph’s Cathedral: This cathedral’s stained-glass windows and Neo-Gothic towers stand out amid Hanoi’s more traditional architecture. Its medieval design draws from French influences. (Vietnam was a part of French Indochina for many decades.)
  • Cruise Halong Bay: As you skim the waters on a wooden junk boat during this included cruise, your guide will help you identify curious rock formations that locals have named Fighting Cock and Stone Dog among the bay’s tiny islets.

Days 5–7: Ho Chi Minh City

Spend an entire day taking in the sights of the former city of Saigon, which combines ancient tradition with an increasingly modern vibe. Motorcycle taxis zip down streets lined with shops and colonial French buildings in Dong Khoi Street, which has been the city’s main shopping district for more than 50 years.

  • City Hall (Hotel De Ville): Though you can’t tour the interior of this century-old former hotel, you can take plenty of photographs in front of the colonial-style facade and soaring bell tower.
  • Notre Dame Cathedral: This cathedral’s striking medieval design was inspired by the church of the same name in Paris.
  • Reunification Palace: The Vietnam War came to an end in 1975 when North Vietnamese army tanks forced their way through the gates of this palace.
  • The War Remnants Museum is full of chilling artifacts that bring war crimes to light. Armored cars, bombs, and even a guillotine are on display.
  • Explore the city at your own pace or take part in an optional tour. You can check out the Cu Chi Tunnels near the edge of Cambodia ($52/person), or learn how to prepare authentic Vietnamese cuisine with a well-known local chef ($96/person).
