Island Expeditions was great! They honored the Groupon completely and answered all my questions by email prior to arrival. The places we stayed were really good. The rainforest resort was amazing! The island property was very basic and rustic, but we knew that going in. You will owe taxes (ours was about $50) that you will pay directly to the resorts, the park fees ($40) and the water taxi transfers ($20pp each way). You also have to pay for your food on the island. That was $40pp/per day. All of this we knew in advance. The one thing that was unclear was that we had to pay the water taxi each way. We thought it was a round trip fare which cut into our cash reserves. We made it work though. The included zipling was a great value, as was the equipment rental on the island. All in all, this was our first Groupon getaway, but it definitely won't be our last!

Stann Creek, Belize: Mayan Ruins, World-Renowned Scuba Diving, and Exotic Wildlife

Located along the coast on the southeastern section of Belize, the district of Stann Creek is one of Belize’s top tourist destinations. The Mayans occupied this region as early as AD 250, and its interior landscape is strewn with impressive ancient ruins set against the Maya Mountains. Today, people come to Stann Creek to see these ruins, enjoy the tropical climate, and visit the area’s eco-tourism destinations.

Opportunities for hiking, river tubing, snorkeling, and scuba diving abound in Stann Creek. The Belize Barrier Reef—the world’s second-longest reef—runs the length of the coastline. There eagle rays, octopuses, dolphins, sharks, and other fascinating creatures inhabit its cays and atolls. You can also see exotic wildlife at the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary, the world’s first jaguar reserve. Located just 10 miles from the Caribbean Sea, the sanctuary was created to keep the jaguar from extinction. Visitors can follow the well-kept trails that cut through the 160-square-mile park, home to howler monkeys, pumas, ocelots, toucans, and much more.

The coastal town is still devoted to its Afro-Caribbean heritage; many residents communicate with their ancestors through dancing and drumming circles.

Bocawina people/food/location/activities were amazing. The bathroom needed more attention but, I would go back for sure. Tobacco caye was ok. Staff was very nice food was ok. For being on a island that fisherman lived on, they never served any type of seafood. The island itself was very dirty, could not walk barefoot at all. I would not go back
